- TRON CEO Justin Sun announced the launch of Odyssey 3.1 on Twitter
- This led to a 12 percent increase in price following the announcement
- TRON has reclaimed its spot as the 11th largest project in crypto by market cap
TRON has recently experienced a 12 percent surge following the new of the upcoming Odyssey 3.1. This surge has brought it back up to 11th position in total market cap.
The upcoming Odyssey 3.1 promises to make TRON faster than ETH and also cheaper than EOS. This news has gotten consumers riled up in anticipation.
Further adding fuel to the fire was a tweet sent out by TRON CEO Justin Sun stating that the upgrade would be taking place at 8 pm SGT.
These planned upgrades are strategic as they are taking place in the last three months of 2018 and are done to ensure that TRON is in the top 10 on the global cryptocurrency market by the first quarter of 2019.
The tweet by Sun reads:
“Based on community consensus, #TRON will be upgrading to Odyssey 3.1 at 8 pm SGT. The TRON Committee function & TVM will go live, marking the start of the Smart Contract Era. TRON will be 200x faster vs. ETH, 100x cheaper vs. EOS. dApp developers & users, this one is for you!”
Responses to the tweet thanked Sun for listening to the community needs and fulfilling his promises.
The aftermath of the announcement has also been impressive, with TRON currently trading at $0.0271. It also has a current market cap of $1.78 billion and has a daily trading volume of $351 million.
While its increase is impressive, it isn’t entirely an overnight sensation as TRON’s numbers have been steadily climbing for the past few days.
One of the reasons for the steady shift is a recent interview Justin Sun gave where he discussed upcoming features and upgrades that would be coming to TRON. This in itself got consumers excited but it all came to a fever pitch when the official announcement of Odysseys 3.1 was made.
Sun has made it clear that he intends to push TRON into the top 10 in the coming months and his efforts seem to be paying off.
Tron and BitTorrent
Odyssey 3.1 isn’t the only change coming in TRON. There are plans in the works to combine TRON and BitTorrent in order to increase awareness around the TRON protocol.
This is in addition to plans to expand investments in the gaming industry.
