ParallelChain Testnet 2 is now live, and according to the official statement, ParallelChain will continue to integrate new features and functionality. The newly implemented changes need to be tested in the field before they can be considered a success. The tasks associated with the testnet will now start here. Prior to the introduction of the Mainnet, ParallelChain will have four test networks known as testnets. These test networks enable users and developers to build and test smart contracts on the ParallelChain blockchain without incurring any additional fees.
ParallelChain is incentivizing users to join the Testnet so that they can contribute to the development of the platform and help shape its future. ParallelChain Testnet 2 introduces a number of substantial enhancements that significantly improve not only the user experience but also the performance of the underlying system, as well as its maintainability and dependability. These enhancements fall under three broad categories.
Smart Contracts
ParallelChain started from scratch when it developed the ParallelChain F Smart Contract SDK with one purpose in mind: to make writing Smart Contracts as easy as developing current front-ends. The contract programming model used in Testnet 2 presents Contracts as straightforward, idiomatic Rust structures that are responsible for implementing action and view methods. The new macros included in the SDK are responsible for the automatic transformation of idiomatic contract source code into code that is more sophisticated and operates at a lower level. This occurs without any further input from the programmer. This results in cleaner code and content programmers.
REST API
The REST API has evolved into the ‘glue’ that holds the Web together, and as a result, any internet-scale system is required to have a reliable REST API as a matter of necessity. ParallelChain F follows suit. The ParallelChain F REST API now supports a significantly broader variety of queries. Not only is there a greater range of information available from the blockchain, but queries are also more configurable. Additionally, it now outputs findings in JSON, making it significantly simpler for your Web application to receive blockchain data.
Explorer
ParallelChain Explorer is completely redesigned for Testnet 2 with a color scheme reminiscent of ParallelWallet, another of ParallelChain Lab’s products. In addition to these three key themes, Testnet 2 introduces a number of additional external and internal changes. In the coming weeks, it will introduce many of these additional features to customers.
ParallelChain Development Roadmap
On Testnet 2, ParallelWallet, a mobile wallet for the ParallelChain platform, has been made available. The wallet will serve as an alternative to Testnet 1’s browser-based interface. ParallelChain intends to implement a fungible token standard during phase 2 of the testnet, in addition to a more geographically dispersed collection of nodes and beginning support for delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS).
Moving forward into the third quarter, the third version of the ParallelChain testnet will begin the process of introducing governance capabilities as well as smart contracts that can be upgraded. This will enable users to modify their smart contract’s code as well as address without affecting its state. It is anticipated that the final stage of the testnet will be released at the end of the third quarter. This stage will be geared for stress testing the functionality of the mainnet, as well as enhanced governance capabilities that will facilitate network upgrades through soft forks.
