The Web3 video game streaming platform Azarus may attract the ire of some of its users’ better halves this week, as it’s encouraging them to spend more time playing games rather than romanticizing their lovers.
Azarus is asking video game fanatics to put down that bunch of roses and shun the candlelit dinner in favor of their games controller, launching a retro video gaming campaign to coincide with none other than Valentine’s Day. In other words, it wants gamers to celebrate their true love – namely their love of gaming – and that will no doubt only come at their lovers’ expense.
The Valentine’s Day-themed retro gaming campaign presents avid gamers with the opportunity to engage with their fellow gaming enthusiasts, test their knowledge on classic titles and compete with one another to win big daily giveaways and double their rewards. The campaign is set to run for three and half weeks, kicking off on Valentine’s Day with the reminder that, for gamers, “Gaming was our first love”.
Azarus, which made headlines when it was acquired by Animoca Brands in October, is a blockchain-based video game streaming platform, similar to something like Twitch, with the exception that it’s focused purely on gaming. What’s more, it’s a Web3 streaming platform with crypto at its core, which means it provides unique opportunities for users to earn rewards, either from streaming their own gameplay, or watching the streams of other, top gamers.
With Azarus, players can broadcast their gaming experiences in real-time and earn tokens as rewards for sharing, with the aim being to foster a stronger bond with their audiences.
Now, Azarus is asking gamers to reminisce about their first love via its retro gaming campaign, which they can do by streaming their endeavors on hundreds of classic PC and console games and delight their audiences with their old-skool gaming skills.
The event is being kicked off through an email blast and social media campaign that’s designed to encourage as many of its users as possible to take part. It will involve daily trivia questions on classic games, promotions of retro gaming prizes and active streams that last for the duration of the event. The campaign will also feature weekly themed “community connects” that encourage gamers to meet up on Azarus’ Discord channel and play their most beloved retro games together.
For players there are some interesting benefits to rekindling their first love affairs, with double rewards available on stream wins and 50% discounts on the most popular items in the Azarus Prize store, including some of the world’s most iconic retro games. Other incentives include daily giveaways with a chance to win 50 $AZA tokens.
Azarus said its retro gaming event will run from Feb 12 to March 8, during which time it plans to give away a total of $6,500 in daily prizes.
