BAT Project Adds New Channel to List of Verifiable Platforms
According to BAT Project, a new channel has been added to its list of verifiable platforms. The channel is GitHub and it now sits among existing ones including YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Vimeo, and Reddit.
GitHub’s addition will enable users to contribute BAT tokens to developers that create open-source projects for the ecosystem.
Reddit Community Shows Excitement Over New Addition
On the other hand, comments which were made on BAT Project’s post showed the Reddit community’s high-level excitement over the entrance of GitHub. There was a popular opinion that it will help to develop a culture of supporting open source projects.
A Redditor, for instance, pointed out that it creates an avenue for these projects to be monetized which takes away the need for a dual license. It also enables people to pay for support.
Similarly, others revealed that they have been able to take advantage of the new feature by linking their GitHub account to their projects.
A user specifically opined that at the moment, only personal accounts can be verified because redirection is made to GitHub before the signed-in account is verified. Another hinted that it would definitely be remarkable if Facebook is also added as a channel.
Brave’s Incentive to Reward Publishers
These aside, Brave, the blockchain company behind BAT has taken significant steps of recent to ensure that its publishers are duly rewarded for their efforts.
In April 2019, there were as many as 80,000 publishers in the Brave Verified Publisher program who create content for users of the Brave browser in return for a commission of 70 percent of the ad revenue generated through their content.
A rewards program was also launched on the nightly desktop version of the Brave browser in May this year. The program is to enable users of the browser tip BAT tokens to the content they find appealing on Twitter.
Blockchain Reporter on June 25, 2019, also informed that content creators on Reddit can receive BAT tokens as tips. The tipping feature on Reddit can also be attributed to the launch of a rewards program on the Brave night mode version.
