- Brave’s Verified Publisher Program has surpassed 80,000 publishers
- The program offers publishers 70 percent of ad revenue for publishing content on the Brave browser
- MyEtherWallet and the Los Angeles Times have joined the program
It would be difficult to hold a conversation about the efforts being made towards crypto adoption without making mention of the Brave browser.
The Brave browser is an innovative blockchain-based browser that surpassed 10 million downloads in 2018 and has become the default browser for a HTC phone. Since its inception, Brave has gained a massive following as well as love from web users, mostly because it tackles a lot of the current problems that users have with their web browsers head-on.
One of the ways by which they do this is through their ever-growing Brave Verified Publisher program which has endeared them to both content creators as well as consumers.
An Unusual Model
The first thing that is remarkable about the Brave browser is how unique its business model is and this is why it appeals so much to users.
First, the Brave browser does not allow the tracking of its users location and data. It is, essentially, a privacy-centric browser which is a breath of fresh air in a world where users are much more concerned about their privacy and how it is being exploited by internet corporations.
The other thing that the Brave browser touches upon is the fact that users are not constantly bombarded with ads and if they choose, may not view any ads at all. So how do they make money from advertisers? This is done through a rewards program in which users opt-in to watch ads and are rewarded for doing so with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) which can be redeemed for gift cards, hotel stays and so on.
Verified Publisher Program
In terms of content creators, Brave runs a unique program called the verified publisher program in which content creators sign up to create content for Brave users and in return, receive 70 percent of the ad revenue earned through their content. Publishers can also receive tips from Brave users in BAT.
This program has proved to be quite popular as very high profile creators such as MyEtherWallet and the Los Angeles Times have signed up to be verified publishers for Brave. As of now, the Publisher program has over 80,000 verified publishers and counting.
Beyond rewarding producers and consumers, Brave is also setting a new standard of how firms should respect the privacy of their users and the content of their creators.
