- TRON released a report shedding light on TRX’s DPOS
- Users are required to freeze their TRX to vote
- 27 super representatives from the 127 super representative candidates will be elected by the Tron community
On May 9, Tron Foundation released a report describing the application process of Tron’s Super Representative, the purpose of its role, and how it plays a crucial role in TRON’s Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) consensus mechanism.
The Super Representative Application Process
The application process is open to all users. Any willing user can participate, however, a threshold for admittance has been set to prevent malicious attacks. 9999 TRX will be burnt upon a successful application by a user.
To apply to be a super representative candidate, you will need to create a new wallet:
- Open the Tron blockchain explorer.
- Click the account button.
- Click ‘apply to be a super representative candidate’ button.
- Write your website address.
Tronscan will then offer you a chance to publish their information where the voters can easily see. The super representatives can also manage their content by editing files in the Github repository.
The Voting Process
Every user can vote for their preferred super representative as long as they have TRON power. TRON power is frozen TRX meaning that you have to freeze your TRX to be eligible to vote. When you unfreeze your TRX, TRON power is lost which makes your vote invalid. But if you refreeze your TRX, you can revalidate your vote.
Freezing your TRX means that you cannot use them for trading and they are held in your frozen account. Frozen TRX has a 3-day fixed frozen duration after which you can unfreeze your TRX manually, and your TRX transferred back to your current account.
The balance freezing mechanism is put in place to prevent malicious voting and prevent delayed transaction confirmation that may result from malicious spam transactions.
Voting Categories
The TRON community will elect 27 super representatives from the 127 super representative candidates. The Super representatives will have a vital role in the governing of the Tron community with the essential functions of block generation and bookkeeping that will make sure the earnings correspond. The super representatives will be the top 27 individuals among the 127 candidates who will be voted once every six hours.
The super representative can either be a single person or even an organization as long as a single wallet represents them. The elections will ensure that the developmental decisions are not made by a separate entity but rather by a community as a whole.
