- An updated WTC wallet will accompany the release of the fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet
- Changes accompanying the fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet are set to occur in two major phases
- The fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet will have improved Waltonchain parent chain data transactions
On April 19, 2019, Waltonchain announced the released date of their fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet. The Mainnet is set to be released on 24th April 2019.
Waltonchain was officially launched on March 31, 2018, and since then, its ecosystem witnessed stable mining, operations and a successful audit conducted by Knownsec. Alongside the release of the fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet, the team will also release the updated WTC wallet, blockchain explorer and other clients.
Change in Waltonchain Mainnet
The block generation rate will be doubled with the fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet, moving it from 1 block per minute to 2 blocks per minute. This will significantly increase its efficiency. There will also be an adjustment in block rewards with normal miners receiving 2.5 WTC for every successfully mined block while the master node miners receive 2.5+0.5 WTC for every block mined successfully. These changes will take place in phases.
Phase one
The first phase is scheduled to start on 24th April 2019. Its end time is not static but is estimated to be on 7th May 2019 when they reach block number 40,000 of the fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet. This phase will be about internal deployment and debugging.
Phase two
Phase two is when the fully operational Mainnet will be open to the community.
The phase is set to start at block number 40,000 of the fully operational Waltonchain Mainnet and end at block number 550,000. Once the block number 550,000 is reached the WTCT network will be shut down and miners paid out. Henceforth WTCT will no longer perform miner pay-outs.
Good News for the Miners
The Mainnet is set to improve Waltonchain parent chain data transactions.
WTC data packing time will be greatly enhanced as well with the block generation rate doubling from what we have now from 1 block per minute to two blocks per minute. Also, adjustments to the data packing time and rewards normal miners will now earn 2.5 WTC for every block mined successfully and the master node miners will now receive 3 WTC for the same.
