- Brave has launched a verified publisher program for Reddit on their Nightmode
- This allows users to tip Reddit creators for their content using BAT tokens
- There are currently over 137 verified creators according to Brendan Eich
The Brave browser is one of the most innovative developments in the world of blockchain because it takes on one of the most important issues for modern Internet users which is privacy and control over their browser experience. The Brave browser, unlike traditional browsers, does not feature any ads and users must opt-in to view ads and are rewarded with BAT tokens if they choose to do so.
Brave has seen great development in the last year and various milestones in their number of users to their successful Brave publisher platform. It was reported earlier this year that the Brave would be rolling out a tipping feature for Reddit and now Brendan Eich, the founder of Brave, has confirmed as of June 24 that this is now live.
Tipping on reddit with BAT
The new development targets the world of creators of content using the Brave browser and in this case, Reddit users. Users of the browser can tip Reddit’s creators or opt for automatic contributions in Brave night mode and this helps to foster a community around both the Brave browser and Reddit itself as content creators will be rewarded and consumers of contents can automatically reward those whose contents they enjoy.
This feature has been much anticipated and according to an earlier tweet by Eich, over 137 verified Reddit creators have been recorded on the platform.
Brave has user privacy in focus
Brave’s business model has always been to subvert the traditional use of browsers which heavily bombards users with ads and also has been shown to not value their privacy rights. As a result of this, the browser is very privacy-centric and has earned a lot of favor from internet users because they are given more control over their privacy.
With this, there is an incentive for not only users but creators also and it is not unlikely that we will see more people moving towards the Brave browser so as to enjoy these benefits.
Eich also suggested to users via Twitter that they should restart their browser should they have any pending updates and stated that once a creator is verified, they should be able to receive their tips. It will be interesting to see how they intend to follow up on this new development in the near future.
