Towards a Productive 2019
Smart contracts platform Cardano (ADA) looks set to break through major resistance levels in the near time as the community is in the process of re-formulating their vision for 2020. Charles Hoskinson, the CEO of IOHK, will unveil the updated roadmap for Cardano (ADA) from April 17 to 18 in Miami during the IOHK Summit.
After having a tumultuous 2018, the Cardano community will be hoping for an impressive 2019. In a blog post published on February 7, 2019, the IOHK community unveiled their plans for a new roadmap for Cardano post the summit in Miami.
According to the blog post, Hoskinson will outline Cardano’s vision for 2020 and beyond in his keynote speech. Keeping in view their Miami summit, the team at IOHK has, for the time being, done away with the timer on the roadmap page as well as publishing intermittent updates about important software releases.
Speculations Heat up Before the Announcement
The cryptoverse has already begun speculating the potential announcements Hoskinson could make at the summit. Although nothing concrete can be said yet, the general sentiment among the community members is quite positive. However, one could expect an update on the highly-anticipated Shelley update.

The Shelley update was supposed to go-live in 2018. However, due to some internal conflicts and market sentiment, the update couldn’t complete within the expected timeframe. The update was then postponed until 2019. Considering how big a matter the Shelley update is within the ADA community, one can expect Hoskinson to shed some light on the progress and timeline for the update’s eventual release.
Other than Hoskinson’s speech, the event will also feature interviews and lecture sessions by some of the thought leaders in the crypto and blockchain space.
Specifics of the Shelley Update
Major updates are no easy task for blockchain projects, just ask the Ethereum community about it. Updates of magnitude as large as Shelley and Ethereum’s Constantinople require developers and programmers to burn the midnight oil day in and day out.
Speaking of Cardano’s Shelley update, it’s considered by many to take the project to the next level for widespread adoption and will address some of the issues that plague the crypto industry like scalability, commission, and others.
According to Hoskinson, post Shelley update, Cardano will witness at least 50x decentralization increase. Notably, ADA’s roadmap has been divided into five stages, namely, Voltaire, Basho, Goguen, Shelley, and Byron.
