Cardano Community, a twitter page dedicated to news about Cardano, a decentralized public blockchain and cryptocurrency project also confirmed the news. The page revealed that the partnership is between IOHK and the Georgian government in a bid to develop blockchain-enabled solutions for the Ministry of Education and Science. The latter will be made possible using Atala and Cardano.
Atala as an Enterprise Blockchain Framework
The name Atala may sound quite strange since it has only been around since April this year.
According to Cardano Community on May 2, 2019, Atala is an enterprise blockchain framework whose goal is to provide billions of people living in African countries access to financial services. Atala gets its name from a butterfly that resides in Florida. It is a blockchain platform that was launched by IOHK in collaboration with the Ethiopian government.
On April 30, 2019, Forbes also informed that Atala is similar to Hyperledger Fabric, a blockchain framework used by IBM Blockchain even though it differs by targeting governments in developing countries instead of Fortune 500 companies. It can provide real-world use cases such as voting systems, property registration, and supply chain management.
Cardano (ADA) Maintains a Steady Increase in Price Despite the News
Cardano (ADA), on the other hand, is the 11th largest cryptocurrency based on its $2.4 billion market capitalization today. Its price of $0.90 as of press time, has maintained a steady rise over the past few days and despite the latest news and bitcoin’s spike in the past few hours, it has not affected the virtual asset significantly.
Cardano has, however, gained some level of adoption of recent. For instance, Blockchain Reporter on May 28, 2019, informed that a Japanese barbeque restaurant is now accepting ADA.
On May 13, 2019, Blockchain Reporter also revealed that IOHK had signed an MoU with the Mongolian Blockchain Technology and Cryptocurrency Association and Mongolian Fintech Association in order to promote distributed ledger technology in the country.
