- After spending time in the AWS Partner Network, Blockchain startup ICONLOOP launched its ‘ICON Development Network’ on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace.
- According to ICONLOOP CEO J.H. Kim, the collaboration is part of the company’s efforts to make building blockchain projects easier for developers.
- By utilising the new ICON Development Network within the AWS Cloud environment, ICON dApp development access will be improved significantly.
In a Medium post this week, ICONLOOP, the blockchain-focused company based in Seoul, South Korea, announced the launch of their ‘ICON Development Network’ on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace.
Accessibility and Convenience
In the early part of 2018, ICONLOOP became a technology partner in the AWS Partner Network or APN. This gave them the opportunity to provide a software solution that can be integrated with the AWS platform.
In essence, the ‘ICON Development Network’ is designed to help developers easily run a private instance of the ICON Blockchain Network through AWS. The ‘ICON Development Network’ platform’s primary objectives include improving accessibility, understanding, and convenience when building on the ICON Network. In J.H. Kim’s own words:
“The collaboration with AWS is part of efforts aiming to help developers building blockchain projects more easily, and ICONLOOP will keep engaging in actions to enhance the convenience of the development environment.”
Furthermore, ICONLOOP’s Medium post also stated:
“This ‘ICON Development Network’ platform will provide an easy-to-use development-ready environment. This enables developers to bootstrap their own private ICON Network, adapted to their own convenience and need, in order to build, test, or validate their project running on top of the ICON Protocol.”
In addition, the private networks that will be built on the AWS cloud can be used for deploying dApps as well as for operating the services of the developers.
A Giant Leap for ICONLOOP
The partnership is believed to have longstanding effects on the blockchain startup’s development community. According to Steve Cho, the CTO of ICON-based decentralised application STAYGE One, ICON App development used to require massive effort to build and manage a SCORE development environment.
With the ‘ICON Development Network’ however, things are likely to change for the better. Cho concluded:
“DApp development accessibility is expected to be significantly improved by leveraging the ‘ICON Development Network’ within the AWS Cloud environment, and easy deployment of test blockchain networks will allow SCORE to be validated in a variety of test environments, which will greatly improve DApps quality and development productivity.”
