- Circle claims 2018 was the most significant year in its history yet
- Claims it now services more than 8 million clients in 195 countries across the globe
- Circle says it facilitated over 200 transactions totaling an impressive $75 billion
Circle Internet Financial, a United States-based fintech firm that makes it possible for clients to send, receive money and make payments via cryptoassets has released its achievements for 2018 and what it plans to complete this year, according to a Medium blog post on January 3, 2018.
A Year of Sterling Achievements
While 2018 was unfavorable for a vast array of bitcoin businesses due to the crypto price slump, Circle has revealed that last year was an excellent year for it as it accomplished several significant milestones.
As stated in its Medium blog post, Circle claims to now have more than 8 million customers from 195 nations globally and has handled more than 200 million transactions worth a total of $75 billion.
“Crypto is highly global, and we’re excited to see adoption and activity spanning almost all parts of the world, nearly distributed based on global, regional GDP,” said Circle.
At a time when the crypto winter forced some firms to sack some workers, with some others shutting down international operations in a bid to cut costs, Circle says the market downturn could not impede its growth as it succeeded in expanding its product offerings from just two at the beginning of 2018 to five by the end of last year.
The products launched by the platform includes Circle Pay, US Dollar Coin (USDC), Circle Trade, Circle Invest, and Poloniex exchange.
Poloniex Acquired and Revamped
In February 2018, reports emerged that Circle had acquired Poloniex cryptocurrency exchange, which is one of the oldest cryptocurrency trading venues in the world, for an undisclosed amount.
Since acquiring the exchange, Circle says it has succeeded in reducing nearly 200,000 open customer complaint tickets, including stuck deposits and withdrawals, to just 1000 by the end of 2018.
Although Circle admits it still has a lot of work to be done on the Poloniex exchange, it, however, noted that its team has drastically improved service levels as well as complaint resolution time on the trading venue.
Circle has also made it clear that it carried out several other tweaks that made it possible for Poloniex to list new cryptoassets including EOS, Quantum, Basic Attention Token, Status, and others.
For 2019, Circle has hinted that it plans to grow its leadership role with more expert talents, and diversify its products and services.
