- Dash has released a new version of the Dash Core software, laying the foundation for Dash Evolution
- The upgrade includes implementation of InstantSend and a Masternode Overhaul
- Dash even made the biggest privacy improvement in this new version
Dash has just released the latest version of the Dash Core software. The 0.13 version will serve as the foundation for Dash Evolution, which is a series of network updates. These updates are designed to make Dash a user-friendly blockchain-based payment system. In line with this announcement, Dash also encourages all Masternode operators, pools, exchanges, and explorers to update the software to version 0.13 because the upgrade will be needed in order to continuously get rewards.
Dash started in 2014 and saw significant growth. Now, Dash is accepted by over 4,000 merchants.
What You Can Expect on the New Version
The Dash Core software’s latest upgrade is a major improvement and is also laying the foundation for the upcoming ‘Evolution’ update. In a statement by Ryan Taylor, Dash Core CEO, he said that this will allow special future functionality:
“This is an exciting upgrade for us as we continue to make progress on the launch of Dash Evolution. Version 0.13.0 will improve numerous key functions within the Dash network, including both InstantSend and PrivateSend, and accommodates new transaction types that lay the groundwork for many future uses of the Dash platform, such as the ability to build applications or attach metadata to transactions.”
These special transactions help stop extensions and misuses of traditional transaction formats through expanding available transactions beyond the typical commonly seen in cryptocurrencies.
Here are some of the upgrades this new version has to offer:
Implementation of InstantSend
Dash has made an industry-wide game changer through implementing InstantSend by default. This upgrade locks almost all transactions as confirmed in just 1.3 seconds. With this update, all regular transactions with four or fewer inputs will automatically get an InstantSend lock. The usual fee will even be waived, making all transactions confirmed in an instant.
Another significant improvement in the 0.13 update is the overhaul of the masternode system. It comes with the introduction of a split key system and several deterministic masternode lists. The masternode keys have been split into three including collateral, operator, and voting. Moreover, the masternode rewards address can now be split in two. It can now facilitate automated payment of node operators and lessen the need for recurrent attention from collateral owners. This split also enables a list of active masternodes but without the need to verify the entire Dash blockchain in order to determine valid masternodes.
Lastly, Dash made significant privacy improvements, including the capacity for trustless mobile support. They now have PrivateSend feature that can be implemented on light clients. With the version 0.13’s release, mobile clients can now access a deterministic list of masternodes. They can do this without the need to access the entire blockchain, allowing the mixing to be done without having to trust a third party. Dash could be the first cryptocurrency with advanced privacy features running on mobile devices.
