- Datawallet claims its Bot or Not service will allow internet users to prove their humanity more efficiently and more reliably than CAPTCHAs.
- Datawallet says it will use Enigma’s Trusted Execution Environments first to carry out an on-chain launch of Bot or Not.
Datawallet (DXT), a decentralized data exchange is partnering with Enigma (ENG), a decentralized data marketplace protocol to launch the ‘Bot or Not’ solution, focused on making it easier for people to prove their identities on the internet compared to CAPTCHAs, according to a Medium blog post by the Datawallet project on September 26, 2018.
Datawallet and Enigma Ready to make the Internet Better
Datawallet (DXT) and Enigma (ENG) are looking to eliminate all kinds of fraudulent bots that currently exist on the internet, with their innovative new service called Bot or Not.
According to the Datawallet blog post, bots account for roughly half of the entire web traffic, creating fraudulent impressions, spreading misinformation on social media sites and impeding the smooth functioning of services on the internet.
As Blockchain Reporter informed earlier in August 2018, rogue actors are skillfully deploying scam botnets on popular social media platforms like Twitter, impersonating celebrities and cryptocurrency big whales such as the co-founder of the Ethereum DLT project, Vitalik Buterin, Elon Musk, and others.
While cybersecurity experts are working round the clock to sanitize the internet and bypass these fraudulent botnets by creating CAPTHCHAs (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart), email verifications and other botnet detection solutions, these systems often fail to solve the problem as they get easily outsmarted by botnets and create bad experiences for internet users.
‘Bot or Not’ to First Rid the Crypto Community of Botnets
The Enigma and Datawallet teams have hinted that the Bot or Not blockchain-based anti-botnet solution will first try to tackle the menace within the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
And once the interoperability tools that would enable the Datawallet platform to support other internet protocols are ready, Bot or Not will be able to eliminate all forms of bad botnets across the digital world.
Launched in 2017 via an initial coin offering (ICO) that was almost disrupted by cryptocriminals, Enigma (ENG) will provide the trusted execution environment and encryption system that would power Bot or Not.
At press time, the price of ENG token sits at $0.629, with a market cap of just above $47 million, as seen on CoinMarketCap.
