- Nano X comes with much more memory
Leading cryptocurrency hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger is unveiling its latest hardware wallet. The Bluetooth-enabled Ledger Nano X features an App that enables users to manage their funds remotely.
Remotely Transfer Cryptocurrencies Using Bluetooth Feature
The French-based startup Ledger dropped the hot news about its latest device on Sunday, January 6, 2019, during the ongoing annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) happening in Las Vegas. According to the company, the Ledger Nano X is a Bluetooth enabled wallet meaning users can send and receive cryptocurrency tokens via their mobile devices.
The added Bluetooth feature is welcome news among users since the current Ledger Nano S wallet limited users to using a laptop and desktop computers when the world has primarily moved to mobile computing.
Ledger is releasing the Nano X concurrently with the new Ledger Live Mobile App that’s available for Android and iOS users. This will enable users to seamlessly connect to the hardware wallet via Bluetooth so they can check the status of their wallets, check balances, send and receive transactions besides being able to install and/or uninstall wallet support for different cryptocurrencies without unlocking their hardware wallets.
Commenting on the development during a live demonstration of the product, Ledger CEO Eric Larchevêque stated:
“There have been a lot of requests from our users to have a native application[…] the fact that we have a mobile application and it works with the Nano X is really the big evolution of the hardware for this lineup.”
Calling it “Ledger’s new signature product,” Larchevêque said the new design will address their customers’ biggest complaint with their other products which has been the lack of memory. The CEO said apart from additional memory and Bluetooth, the mobility associated with the Ledger Live App is perhaps Nano X’s most distinguished feature.
The Nano X features a larger screen and migration buttons from the top to the bottom to facilitate easier navigation besides the ability to hold a charge. Larchevêque added:
“[For the Nano S], depending on the app, you can have from five to ten to fifteen wallets, but if you have a lot of crypto, you need to install and reinstall these to manage coins — it’s a lot of work. Now, with the Nano X, you have much more memory and you can have up to 100 applications at one time.”
According to Ledger, the Nano X hardware cryptocurrency wallet will be available for pre-order beginning Monday, January 7, 2019, for shipment in March while the Ledger Live Mobile App will be available from January 28, 2019.
