- The phone will run via blockchain nodes and won’t need a mobile carrier or phone numbers.
- XPhone will run on Function X Blockchain, a new invention by PundiX.
- PundiX will officially launch the XPhone in Q2 2019.
Pundi X has unveiled a blockchain-based Operating System (OS) and mobile communication protocol. The device will allow users to make calls, send and receive messages and transmit data using a fully decentralized blockchain network.
Phone on the Blockchain
The unveiling and public demonstration for the world’s pioneer blockchain phone call happened on October 10, 2018 during the second day of the XBlockchain Summit at the Inaya Putri Bali, Indonesia. Unlike other phones that run on a centralized mobile carrier, the phone will run independently via blockchain nodes with no mobile carrier or phone numbers.
The announcement by the leading developer of blockchain-powered devices stated that the new phone dubbed the XPhone will operate on a new transmission protocol for the blockchain age. The innovation, the statement said, proves that blockchain technology can be used for more than just financial products.
The statement said XPhone will run on Function X Blockchain, an invention by PundiX that has even more potential. The company said it has developed a new chain that will answer many challenges affecting the blockchain ecosystem and increase its scalability and the ability to publish dApps to achieve true decentralization. PundiX Co-founder and CTO Pitt Huang said:
“Pundi X develops technology to solve challenges that blockchain technology is facing and make it usable in our life, it took decades before the uses of the internet could be applied widely enough to reshape the global economy, human relationships and governance […] Function X will be transformational to blockchain as the browser was to the Internet.”
PundiX Gaining Some Serious Momentum
The company said the Function X is a totally decentralized solution comprising five essential components namely Function X OS, Function X Blockchain, Function X IPFX, FXTP Protocol, and the Function X Docker. All five have one sole purpose which is to decentralize all apps, website, communications, and data.
The Function, which is a new blockchain ecosystem, will enable users to securely send and receive data via a fresh transmission protocol called FXTP while the XPhone’s decentralized file storage system is called IPFX. The platform will allow users to share data in the same way they do securely online via the blockchain and the developers will quickly and easily publish Dapps using FXTP.
The company said the XPhone OS is now undergoing testing by phone manufacturers but more information on Function X will be available on www.functionx.io by October 15, 2018. Pundi X will officially launch the XPhone, Function X blockchain, FXTP and IPFX in Q2 2019.
