- Goldman Sachs has posted a job listing for a digital asset project manager
- The role is for their GS Accelerate incubator program
There has been an influx of prominent firms taking part in the crypto space in recent times including firms such as Facebook, JP Morgan and Amazon and this is a testament to just how prominent the cryptocurrency industry has become and also how profitable it is.
One of the newest firms to get involved in cryptocurrency, apparently, is Goldman Sachs as a listing on a popular job website shows that Goldman Sachs is recruiting talent for digital assets development.
Crypto Comes to Goldman Sachs
This listing is reminiscent of the various hires and acquisitions that took place in the last few months ahead of the launch of the Libra white paper by Facebook. At the time, no official announcement had been made but it was apparent that moves were being made in the background and this is likely the case with Goldman Sachs.
The listing in question is for a digital asset project manager who will be working under the banks GS Accelerate in-house incubator program and this gives some idea of what products Goldman Sachs might be working on. According to the listing, the role will require someone to “develop comprehensive road maps for distributed ledger technology (DLT) development,” “foster a deep understanding of relevant products, technology, and markets,” and “maintain and iterate a complex project planning document with multiple stakeholders.”
Interestingly enough, the job is classified under the bank securities division and it has been stated that it will be situated in an internal unit that works to develop solutions and products for the traditional financial industry in a quick manner and from all indications, it will be a rather demanding and fast-paced environment as the hire in question will be required to work under a demanding time scale as the GS Accelerate program is working to create brand new business ideas while providing an entrepreneurial environment for its employees.
As for the requirements for the role, the prospective candidates must have a passion for and an understanding of digital assets as well as blockchain, the capital markets, and the financial services regulations. This shows not only the prominence of cryptocurrency and blockchain but also the growing market for crypto and blockchain-related skills because as the sector flourishes, there will be a greater need for those with specific skills.
