- VeChain announce the first product to go live on their BrightCode blockchain platform
- The BrightCode platform is powered by VeChainThor Blockchain
- Consumers will be able to track the complete supply chain of products on BrightCode
In a Medium post published May 18, 2019, the VeChain Foundation announced that the “Cupids Farm” milk brand, produced by Bright Food had become the first food and beverage brand to go live on the project’s BrightCode platform. Notably, the supply chain tracking platform is built upon the VeChainThor Blockchain public blockchain.
Tracking Milk on the Blockchain Supply Chain
Singapore-based blockchain supply chain project VeChain continues to achieve one milestone after another. Just a few days after the project on boarded Norway’s Renji Hospital on to their Digital Carbon Ecosystem Initiative, it has now added one of the top milk brands in Asia to its supply chain tracking platform, BrightCode.
For the uninitiated, BrightCode is a robust blockchain-based commercial ecosystem built upon VeChain’s next generation blockchain-as-a-service platform – VeChain ToolChain. BrighCode enables companies to track and monitor the entire life cycle of their products from the point of origin to the sale to the customer. All data, throughout the supply chain journey, is collected, stored and verified in real-time through the VeChainThor Blockchain.
The exhaustive process ensures that all the products are genuine and that no adulteration or counterfeiting was conducted through their supply chain journey, thus bridging the gap between the company’s produce and customer’s trust. Moreover, with the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), companies can better gauge the demand and preferences of customers which would, in turn, help them make better strategic decisions.
With regard to the functioning of the process, the post reads:
“After scanning the QR code on the bottle, users will be directed to BrightCode platform, where they’ll be presented with the key data in the lifecycle of that bottle of milk, such as where it was produced, the environment of the dairy farm, the production techniques adopted, and more. With DNV GL, an accredited certification body’s verification of the source data and tamper-proof blockchain technology, we can rest assured that all data stored on the VeChainThor Blockchain is authentic, and in turn prove to the consumers that what they see is what they get.”
With that said, VeChain continues to build quietly among the noisy crypto industry. While some players might churn the money into lavish marketing of their products without having much to back its real-life utility, VeChain chooses to let their accomplishments do the talking.
