Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, August 19th, 2026, Chainwire
Bitcoin.com, the global cryptocurrency media, wallet, and fintech platform, and Universal Digital Intl Limited (“Universal”), the ADGM-based issuer of the USDU stablecoin, today announced a strategic partnership covering the integration of USDU into the Bitcoin.com product suite and a joint education program on regulated stablecoins.
Issued by Universal under the regulation of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) as a Fiat-Referenced Token, USDU is also the first and currently only registered Foreign Payment Token under the Central Bank of the UAE’s Payment Token Services Regulation. Each USDU is backed 1:1 by liquid USD reserves held with regulated UAE banks and subject to monthly independent reserve attestations. Its smart contract has also been independently audited, while distribution is provided by Aquanow, a VARA-licensed virtual asset service provider.
Under the partnership:
- Wallet integration: USDU (ERC-20 on Ethereum) will be added as a supported asset in the self-custodial Bitcoin.com Wallet — web and mobile — enabling users to hold, send, and receive USDU, with swap and buy/sell functionality to follow as third-party provider support becomes available. Availability is subject to jurisdictional restrictions.
- Payments: Bitcoin.com will accept USDU as a means of payment for designated Bitcoin.com services, and will work to enable USDU payments between users and merchants through its products, where permitted by applicable law.
- Education: Bitcoin.com will publish a series of educational materials about stablecoins and USDU across its channels, including in-wallet “Learn-to-Earn” content.
“Regulation has become the defining question for stablecoins. USDU’s registration with the UAE central bank and its monthly attested 1:1 reserves are exactly the kind of transparency users and merchants can verify for themselves. We’re excited to make it available in the Bitcoin.com Wallet.” Corbin Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of Bitcoin.com.
“This partnership reflects how the role of regulated stablecoins is broadening,” said Juha Viitala, Senior Executive Officer at Universal. “Making USDU available through the Bitcoin.com Wallet means institutional-grade standards are now accessible to millions of users who want to hold and transfer a stablecoin with verifiable backing.”
