Brandonbilt Motorsports announced that cryptocurrency meme coin LGBcoin.io had signed on as the team’s full-time primary sponsor
Partnership
Brandon Brown has announced a new full-season sponsor for the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. However, the sponsor has not yet been approved by NASCAR. NASCAR spokesperson confirmed that the LGBcoin_io sponsorship for Brown has not yet been approved and the team “jumped the gun” in publicizing its announcement.
LGB.coin.io is a cryptocurrency meme coin on the Ethereum blockchain playing off the ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ catchphrase that became popular in right-wing political circles following Brown’s Talladega victory. The team unveiled Brown’s new No. 68 LGBcoin Chevrolet, featuring a red, white, & blue paint scheme, with the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” on the car.
Following Brown’s Talladega victory last season, the Xfinity driver was being interviewed by an NBC Sports reporter, and the crowd could be heard chanting something during their conversation. Per Fox NY, the reporter suggested it was “Let’s go, Brandon” in honor of the driver; however, it was later revealed that the crowd was saying, “F— Joe Biden.” The chant rapidly became a political meme.
