Yoroi, a web wallet for the Cardano cryptocurrency has officially been added to the mainnet as of 1st October 2018.
The announcement was made by the company via Twitter:

The wallet works as a web extension and allows its users to send, receive and store their ADA in a single place.
The wallet also has a great emphasis on speed. It is lightweight and launches within minutes which means that its users can send and receive funds much quicker. It also has support for over five different languages.
According to Charles Hoskinson, the Co-founder of IOHK and Creator of Cardano, there was supposed to be a gap given between the testnet and mainnet launch of the wallet when it was first announced in August 2018.
It seems that the wait is over.
Small and Independent
The new wallet, by its design, strives to make the user experience as convenient as possible. Besides its ease of use as a web extension, it has the added advantage of not needing to sync to the main blockchain network.
Also, according to the details released by the firm, the installation of the wallet requires very little bandwidth.
The keys used to access the wallet are stored along with the password to the wallet on the user’s computer rather than on the firm’s own network.
The wallet has been anticipated for quite some time and has so far, been received favorably by the community.
New Beginnings
Most developments that take place within the cryptocurrency industry begin with a precedent. In terms of wallets, this new release from Yoroi could set a precedent for better ease of use for cryptocurrency wallets.
Yoroi is extremely easy to use and works almost like any other web extension and more companies following this path will mean that in the future, cryptocurrency wallets will be looked at as any other web extension.
It is also embracing the idea of wallet keys being in the hands of consumers themselves rather than stored with the firm.
