Cosmic Universe, an upcoming fantasy world builder MMORPG that is based on the Harmony blockchain, has released a demo of its upcoming game. The free-to-play demo showcases the concept of what will be a blockchain-based MMORPG.
Details of the Game
Cosmic Universe is designed as an open world-building quest-based game that uses the blockchain to create a thriving gaming ecosystem for players. In doing so, the developers offer a unique gaming experience where players own tokenized in-game assets and become part of a dual-token economy.
Within the ecosystem, there will be opportunities to trade, rent, upgrade and unlock NFTs. Players will take part in numerous P2P and PVE competitions, and challenges via primary and secondary Quests. Players will have to choose from different types of character professions, earn rewards through skilled gameplay, and enjoy a game full of lore, as is often the case with popular MMORPGs.
Within the Cosmic Universe, players can explore the magical realms, gather resources, and uncover ancient artifacts, create portions, own land, have companions and pets, build, go on quests, while at the same time gaining XP, Skill Level, Land Level, and leveling up. There will be a robust player-driven economy where players have an important role to play.
Game Lore
The lore of the game states that at the dawn of the universe, there were seven beings known as the Elementals. The beings came together to create The Prism where they can create a world and root races in the universe. Each Elemental has a unique creative power. On the first planet where they originate, there is a Tree of Magic at the center of the main continent called Cosmic Island. This tree is the source of all magic.
Details of the Demo
The demo will take place on Cosmic Island, which is the first of seven islands. Cosmic Island is the home of the Wizards’ root race, one of the seven root races. As a result, it will be the first playable race, followed by the Elves race. On Cosmic Island, there are various biomes. Within the demo, there will be a sandboxed region, which will initially combine tropical and coniferous environments.
While the final game assets will be tokenized, the game demo will be an offline single-player preview. The full release of the final game is going to be in H1 2023. Players will have the option to pick where they take part in the worldbuilding quest, take part in PVP and PVE competitions, or simply explore the huge game world and become a part of a community within the Cosmic Universe Metaverse.
Dual Token Economy
While the focus of the ecosystem is the MMORPG gameplay, it will also take advantage of blockchain technology with a dual token economy. The two tokens of the ecosystem are MAGIC and COSMIC, which are built on top of the Harmony blockchain. These tokens can be swapped for in the Farm section of the marketplace. MAGIC is the governance token while COSMIC is the utility token. Both tokens are used in the reward scheme of the game when they engage in gameplay as well as for prizes during tournaments, quests, and assorted events.

Anyone can visit the Cosmic Universe site and download the demo client for PC. Future releases of the game will offer more gameplay features, including multiplayer and blockchain integration.
