Dollar General announced a partnership with DoorDash to offer on-demand delivery of household essential items.
Partnership
Dollar General today announced a partnership with DoorDash, the nation’s leading last-mile logistics platform, to offer on-demand delivery of household essential items, including food, snacks, cleaning supplies, and more, at everyday low prices customers trust Dollar General to provide.
The arrangement highlights many realities of American life, both pre- and peri-pandemic. For some people, it could open up access and independence that otherwise wasn’t available because they live somewhere without Instacart or a fleet of electric Ubers.
Shoppers can order products, including food, snacks and cleaning supplies, for same-day delivery through the DoorDash app or website. Dollar General is not requiring a time slot or minimum order value, and through Nov. 24 customers can get 30% off their first Dollar General order where the subtotal is at least $20.
Dollar General’s aggressive move into the delivery space comes right on the heels of rival Dollar Tree’s partnership with Instacart for same-day delivery from 7,000 locations, which was announced earlier in November. Dollar Tree’s other banner, Family Dollar, unveiled a similar offering from 6,000 of its brick-and-mortar stores in February 2021.
