The Web3 gaming industry is beginning to bloom like never before, with several firms starting to fixate their focus on this part of the industry, executives are now transitioning to the Web3 market. Former Apple executive Trip Hawkins wasnāt left out of the picture.Ā
Earlier today, Hawkins entered into the Web3 industry via its partnership with a Web3 gaming startup looking to take on top blockchain games like Axie Infinity. Trip Hawkins who was also an ex-Apple executive founded a popular sports videogame FIFA.Ā
Into The Web3
According to Reuters citing Hawkinsās statement in an interview, the founder of Electronic Arts (EA.O) will join as co-founder and security chief of Games for a Living (GFAL). GFAL is supposedly the Web3 game aimed at rivaling other top blockchain games like Axie infinity.Ā
GFL was founded in 2021 by former King executive Manel Sort. The game is Barcelona-based and has so far had a post-money valuation of 13.2 million euros which is worth $13.96 million after its latest funding round last year.
Hawkins noted, “Web3 is the bridge to the Metaverse, and if we’re going to make a Metaverse, the economy of the Metaverse has to be more like the real world.” Speaking of Web3 games, Hong Kong-based blockchain gaming developer Animoca Brands, which backs the popular NFT game, Axie Infinity recently announced its plan to invest in more Web3 and Blockchain startups.Ā
As reported by BlockchainReporter, Animoca Brands gathered approximately $1 billion for its Web3, blockchain, and Metaverse-related endeavors and has shown the eagerness of the firm to capitalize in the market without being negatively influenced by the crypto winter.
