Pectra is the upcoming major upgrade to the Ethereum blockchain, combining the Prague and Electra updates. It’s expected to significantly improve Ethereum’s usability, wallet features, and validator operations.

What to Expect from Pectra

Slated for release in late 2025, Pectra will introduce several Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), including EIP-3074, which enhances smart wallet functionality, and EIP-7251, allowing validators to increase their maximum stake. These updates aim to streamline wallet UX, increase security, and make validator management more efficient.

Why It’s a Milestone for Ethereum

By merging upgrades for both Ethereum’s execution and consensus layers, Pectra reflects Ethereum’s ongoing evolution toward a more scalable, user-friendly, and secure ecosystem. It also sets the stage for future developments like Verkle trees and statelessness.
