- Out of 210 participants, IOTA has announced 10 winners in their Perfect Brainstorm Contest
- 3 judges from IOTA deliberated to choose winners with ideas that can be realized with the use of current technology

After a community contest called ‘The Perfect Brainstorm’, IOTA has received tons of ideas from different organizations. They gathered over 210 ideas and each of them varied greatly. From improving air traffic efficiency using micropayments, tamperproof 3D printing, up to living in micro apartments powered by IOTA, they received innovative concepts from the smartest, visionaries, and business-oriented individuals.
Overwhelming interest
All of the Perfect Brainstorm participants were trying to present ideas making use of IOTA. These concepts were even accompanied by working demonstrations as well as prototypes. The number of creative ideas and extent to which the community went to present their innovative new concepts shows the innovation in the IOTA community.
The volume of concepts presented to IOTA made it challenging for the 3 judges to choose the top 10 winners. They needed to select projects with worthwhile ideas that can clearly define the problem they intend to solve and where they intend to apply it.
According to IOTA, the goal of this contest is not only to promote cases that use creative and innovative solutions, but also to help ideas that can be realized with the use of today’s technologies. They wanted to put an emphasis on the projects’ feasibility, and how IOTA and their partners can turn the idea into reality.

Vessel Demurrage & Dispatch
Winners: Leif Arne Strømmen and Erik Aadland
Despite the technological advancements, the shipping industry has not been fully digitized. Their processes are still based on paper and they largely rely on human intervention. Leif Arne Strømmen and Erik Aadland’s idea can help automate the process of correctly recording the time of arrival and departure of the ship, through the use of geofencing and AIS signals. As a result, the port can fully automate the invoicing of all fees to the vessel. Since today’s technologies and infrastructure can make this application realized, it can solve a billion-dollar problem with the help of IOTA.
LogIOTA Aid System
Winner: Johannes Schroth
Water is quickly becoming a precious resource due to droughts and water shortages in some parts of the world. The LogIOTA project wants to use flash channels in order to efficiently distribute water resource through micropayments, leading to a fairer distribution of water. It can also result to lessen queues at the water supply and improved hygiene.
Circular Energy Management
Winners: Nicolas Schteinschraber and Federico Gonzalez
Circular Energy Management helps ensure that scooters and electric bikes are not wasted after the battery runs out. Nicolas and Federico’s Circular Energy Management proposed a charging station network to solve this problem. It will it help users buy electricity through the use of IOTA micropayments and the charging station itself can get energy nearby.
After the announcement, IOTA encouraged everyone that participated in the contest to continue improving their projects and take their ideas further. They even assured the participants that the IOTA community will help participants who don’t have the necessary expertise to work on the project themselves.
