Sonic, the first Solana Layer 2 (Sonic SVM), has announced a transformative token airdrop. It has launched this token airdrop for users who delegate to its Actively Validated Service (AVS) via Solayer.
This milestone marks the first-ever airdrop of its kind. It is designed to reward early adopters for their commitment to Sonic’s vision and support of the Solana restaking ecosystem. Eligible participants include Solayer delegators and Adrastea users who have delegated $SOL or Liquid Staking Tokens (LSTs) to Sonic’s AVS. The snapshot for airdrop eligibility will be taken before Sonic’s Token Generation Event (TGE) in Q1 2025.
Sonic SVM Airdrop, Revolutionizing Rewards
The program represents a major step in Sonic’s efforts to promote community-driven growth within the Solana network. With $80 million in $SOL staked by over 81K unique users, Sonic’s AVS is the largest delegated service on Solayer. Delegators gain access to liquidity through Liquid Restaking Tokens. This can be leveraged across DeFi platforms like Banx, Orca, and Meteora.
Sonic’s CEO, Chris Zhu, highlighted the importance of the initiative. He states, “The airdrop confirmation signals our commitment to empowering those who have played a pivotal role in the growth of Sonic’s AVS. By rewarding Solayer delegators and Adrastea participants, we’re not only incentivizing broader participation but also ensuring that the users who have believed in Sonic’s vision from the start benefit directly from our growth.”
A Boost for Solana’s Restaking Ecosystem
Solayer drives innovation in Solana’s restaking ecosystem, boasting over $360 million in Total Value Locked (TVL). This collaboration underscores the synergy between Sonic and Solayer. Adrastea, a liquid restaking protocol powered by Solayer, enhances the efficiency of AVS delegations. It offers users yield maximization without compromising liquidity.
Sonic’s decision to directly reward active participants strengthens the network. It also fosters trust and loyalty among its growing community. As the liquid staking market surpasses $2 billion, initiatives like Sonic’s airdrop are expected to catalyze adoption. It further aims to expand the reach of Solana’s decentralized ecosystem.
