- Litecoin users will now be able to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets online
- This is the second major partnership for Litecoin in professional sports
- The payment method will be powered by Aliant Payments
Cryptocurrencies are no strangers to professional sports these days. There have been many gala events where we’ve seen cryptocurrencies pop up in commercials as well as sponsors in some cases.
The Litecoin Foundation, the team firm behind one of the top ten cryptocurrencies, Litecoin (LTC), is no stranger to this. From sponsoring a UFC fight to partnering with a premier Kickboxing league, Litecoin has done it all. However, the company hasn’t stopped yet, as, on July 12, the organization announced on their website that American professional football team, the Miami Dolphins, have now accepted Litecoin as their official cryptocurrency.
Litecoin in American football
This is the first time ever that an NFL team will be officially adopting a digital asset. The payment solution will be powered by Aliant Payments, a Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based payment processing and independent merchant service provider.
As an output of this integration, it will be possible for the home fans to use Litecoin or Bitcoin for buying 50/50 raffle tickets, where half of the proceeds benefit the team’s charitable cause. Participants of the raffle will also be able to buy tickets using cryptocurrencies online as well as at Kiosks and sellers throughout Hard Rock Stadium. Apart from this, Litecoin will also be appearing in Dolphins’ in-game branding and also in various related advertisements.
Charlie Lee, the founder of Litecoin, commented on the partnership saying:
“We’re thrilled to see Litecoin become the official cryptocurrency of the Miami Dolphins. This collaboration propels Litecoin in front of an audience of millions of people around the world at a time where adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to gain momentum and the ecosystem is able to support real-world use cases in ways previously not possible. We see this as a powerful way to raise awareness and educate people about Litecoin and cryptocurrencies on a tremendous scale.”
Kim Rometo, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, said:
“The Miami Dolphins are always looking for ways to enhance the fan experience, and this partnership with Litecoin provides the ability for guests to enjoy our 50/50 raffle while donating to a great cause.”
Towards Mass Adoption
Litecoin has been consistent with its partnerships and is one of the most frequently transacted cryptocurrencies in the crypto space. The organization continues to push towards mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies. The company has also entered a strategic partnership with Travala.com, which will enable users to pay for hotel bookings.
However, these aren’t the only major partnership Litecoin has been involved in. The Foundation also secured a partnership with major car manufacturer Subaru. Users can now buy Subaru at any Bob Moore Auto Group dealerships with Litecoin. These partnerships play a vital role in bringing cryptocurrency to the people and making the masses more aware. Mass adoption is still a long way to go but it has been a great start for not only Litecoin but the entire cryptocurrency industry as a whole.
