Whale wallets are suddenly rotating capital into a handful of altcoins, and the activity levels are extreme. According to the on-chain update from Santiment, the number of $100,000 or larger transactions on Humanity Protocol climbed 500% in a single week, placing it firmly at the top of a list dominated by a mix of established names and speculative outliers.
Wrapped Bitcoin on Optimism jumped 440%, Maker’s MKR rose 400%, and TrueUSD on Ethereum also saw a 400% increase. The pattern extends through SPX6900 (238%), SwissBorg (200%), Rocket Pool’s rETH (200%), Worldcoin on Optimism (123%), Cronos (122%), and ENS (117%). What stands out immediately is that the rise in large transaction counts isn’t confined to a single sector. It cuts across DAO tokens, liquid staking derivatives, stablecoins, and completely new entrants like Humanity Protocol—an identity-focused project that has barely begun to build a liquid market narrative.
Why Large Transaction Counts Matter
A surge in whale transfers doesn’t automatically mean accumulation. It can just as easily be a precursor to distribution or an internal reallocation between custodial wallets. But Santiment’s own note is direct: the non-stablecoins on this list are the most likely to see particularly high price volatility in the near future. That’s because elevated large-address activity on thinner order books acts as a pressure release, often triggering sharp directional moves even when the underlying news is neutral.
The Ethereum ecosystem, which hosts many of these tokens, continues to dominate Top 10 Blockchains by Developer Activity This Week, providing a liquid backbone where whale signals still carry weight. Yet the presence of Optimism-based WBTC and Worldcoin shows that activity is shifting toward layer-2 environments as gas costs and settlement speed reshape where large players execute.
What Traders Can Watch Next
The signals are noisy by nature. A 500% rise in transactions for a token like H may reflect a single OTC deal, an exchange listing preparation, or a handful of large addresses rebalancing. For more liquid assets like MKR and ENS, the jump is harder to dismiss. In both cases, recent on-chain flows do not yet confirm a clear buying impulse, leaving open the possibility that some of the activity is internal treasury management rather than market-entry.
Still, the list overlaps in meaningful ways with tokens that have already shown signs of life. Weekly gainers often emerge from clusters where whale activity preceded price action, as seen in recent Top Crypto Gainers of the Week: $TON, $SIREN, and $VVV Secure Top Positions. The divergence this time is the inclusion of stablecoin TUSD and liquid staking token rETH, which typically don’t react in the same way. The market’s next move likely hinges on whether these transaction spikes translate into sustained on-exchange supply shifts—something that will only become clear over the coming days.
