World Mobile, a prominent blockchain-powered global mobile network has announced a partnership with DITO CME. DITO CME is the holding company of Dito Telecom one of the fastest-growing mobile network operators in the Philippines. The collaboration aims to extend mobile and broadband connectivity to underserved communities while driving innovation in the country’s digital financial ecosystem.
DITO CME, which currently serves over 13 million subscribers will integrate World Mobile’s decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) and blockchain technology to improve internet access in remote areas. The initiative utilizes World Mobile AirNodes including some supported by Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite backhaul, to provide high-speed and cost-effective connectivity. An estimated 25 million Filipinos who lack reliable internet access are expected to benefit from this initiative.
Blockchain-Powered DTaka to Strengthen Finance
The partnership focuses heavily on DTaka which represents a blockchain-powered e-wallet solution platform. DTaka functions as part of the DITO CME framework while operating on the World Mobile Chain network. The platform will use two tokens where one stable token controls mobile money and remittance transactions while another utility token manages gamification systems.
CEO Emmanuel Samson at DTaka stressed that users can achieve enhanced accessibility through secure financial solutions provided by the platform. DTaka presents an option beyond standard financial services by creating modern transaction processes with wide-scale accessibility.
Advancing Decentralized Infrastructure in Telecommunications
The newly formed partnership supports the current trend of adopting Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) since these systems prioritize essential services to be operated and owned by multiple stakeholders. The inclusive telecommunications approach delivers advantages to everyone involved including businesses together with communities and network operators.
The collaboration serves as a vital component for DITO CME President Donald Lim who leads the company in transforming connectivity and financial services throughout the Philippines. The blockchain initiative will initially begin its operations in 2025 before expanding towards linking additional locations and advancing blockchain adoption in the area.
