Yuga Labs, creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, just announced that they acquired the CryptoPunks and Meebits collections from Larva Labs
Yuga Labs NFT Acquisition
Yuga Labs announced the acquisition of Larva Labs‘ CryptoPunks and Meebits collections. The first thing on the to-do list is to grant NFT holders complete commercial rights. This was one of the most common critiques leveled against Larva Labs in contrast to Yuga.
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have seemed to become a hallmark of the crypto market throughout the last year and into 2022. Bored Ape Yacht Club, one of the teams behind the fifth-largest NFT collection in terms of total sales volume, announced the acquisition of the IP for two further popular NFT collections. The two collections are the Cryptopunks and Meebits collections published by Larva Labs.
From the official Yuga Labs Twitter account the team tweeted: “Some big news to share today: Yuga has acquired the CryptoPunks and Meebits collections from Larva, and the first thing we’re doing is giving full commercial rights to the NFT holders. Just like we did for BAYC and MAYC owners.”

“When we set out to create within the NFT space, we did so with a deep admiration for CryptoPunks and the visionary work of Matt and John,” said Nicole Muniz, CEO of Yuga Labs. “We’re honored to take on the stewardship of these brands and the communities behind them, and are very excited to build alongside CryptoPunks and Meebits holders as we step into this new world. That said, we want to make it abundantly clear to Yuga’s existing community that the BAYC ecosystem will always stay at the center of our universe.”
