Uplandme Inc. and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) made the announcement today that they have signed an official license agreement to introduce the First Division Argentina (also known as the Professional Football League or “LPF” for short) to the Upland Metaverse. Upland is the leading platform for mapping the actual world in the Metaverse, with over 3 million registered accounts.
This strategic collaboration will allow the AFA and the LPF to start engaging Argentinian fans with the Metaverse, making a contribution to the digital community while reaping the benefits from the extensive involvement of the global Argentinian football community, connecting users with their favorite teams and players.
Dirk Lueth, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Upland, said: “We are thrilled with the completely loaded licensing agreement and partnership with the AFA to continue to expand Upland’s footprint and community around the world. With AFA, we are able to offer more opportunities than ever before to Argentinian fans new and old, empowering them with the true meaning of Web3, which is community-focused and entrepreneurial, allowing fans to contribute ideas and creations to showcase their team pride in engaging new ways.”
Taking Advantage of Metaverse to Enhance Fan Experience
Not only does Upland unite fans, collectors, and players from all over the world in a unified virtual network, but the open Metaverse platform also includes different gamified chances for users to engage with a complete collection of classic Argentine football digital collectibles. These include teams, Clubs, Players, Tickets, Gameplay Footage, Historical Moments, Platform Exclusive Moments, and the Official Upland Market.
This partnership is yet another expression of the globalization of the Argentine Football Association and the reach of the brand of the Argentine Professional Football League, with the goal of attracting new fan demographics such as global gamers, Web3 fans, and collectors of digital assets in virtual markets.
Claudio Fabian Tapia, President of AFA, said: “We are very happy to present this new commercial strategic agreement with Upland. The Argentine Professional League has long-awaited opportunities to take advantage of emerging technologies to enhance our League’s fan experience. This agreement allows us to partner with the best creators of technology and new digital products and thus generate a new source of income for all participating clubs. We welcome Upland as a new commercial partner of our Argentine Football Association and the Argentine Professional Football League.”
This is the first time that Argentine football has been represented in the Metaverse, and it is also the first time that Upland has provided its supporters with the opportunity to take exclusive ownership of in-game video content. The Argentine Professional Football League will have access to a new source of revenue during the next four years as a result of the user’s ability to purchase numerous assets of virtual goods licenses.
Creating a Unique Metaverse Experience Focused on Football
Argentine football fans will be able to benefit from a community setting that is centered on first-division football as a result of this strategic partnership, which will provide them with a one-of-a-kind experience within the Metaverse. Fans will be able to start virtual businesses to resell LPF digital products and other digital collectibles in Upland, where they can do so in player-owned and operated shops situated on their digital properties, including the 22 cities that are already available in Upland.
Leandro Petersen, Chief Commercial Marketing Officer of AFA, said: “Upland is at the forefront of a new category of virtual NFT memorabilia. The platform uniquely combines digital collectibles uniting all global NFT markets into their own Metaverse. In this way, our Professional League will be able to get closer to football fans from all over the world and to the players who hope to be closer to the stars of our Argentine football teams every day.”
Following the recently unveiled partnership with FC Porto and FIFA, which allows fans to get direct exposure to the highlights of the FIFA World CupTM such as the goals of the final as digital collectibles, Upland’s deal with the Argentine Football Association also broadens the company’s active participation with global and European football.
Leandro Petersen further added: “We are excited about the potential of this association and it is very important for us to continue generating new sources of income for AFA and the LPF. We continue with the expansion process started and develop digital products that increase the presence of Argentine Soccer in the world. With this agreement with Upland, we are achieving a great goal for the Argentine Professional Football League.”
