Leading experts in blockchain technology and top government officials will gather on the 24 of September to discuss the Impact of the rise on cryptocurrency on the global economy and economic growth.
The forum will be tagged ‘Blockchain for Social Good: Utilizing Blockchain to Aid Economic Development and will be held during the first week of the 73rd UN General Assembly in New York.
The forum will be hosted by the Blockchain Charity Foundation (BCF), Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC) and Women Political Leaders Global Forum (WPL) and will feature a speech by the president of Malta.
This is fitting as Malta is considered the ‘Crypto island’ for being one of the friendliest places in the world for blockchain investment and is home to dozens of blockchain-based businesses.
There will also be a number of roundtable discussions and presentations of new projects and innovations in the cryptocurrency space.
“BCF firmly believes that blockchain will substantially transform the world by introducing transparency, accountability, and efficiency to charitable activities and accelerating global poverty reduction, job creation and economic growth,” said Helen Hai, UNIDO Goodwill Ambassador and Head of Blockchain Charity Foundation. “BCF is delighted to work with international organizations and industry leaders to embark on this new journey together.”
Powerful Alliances
This forum will be a meeting of several world powers and gives cryptocurrency a chance to be shown to world powers like never before. All the organizations involved have already expressed their support.
“We at WPL believe that technology and digitalization can greatly benefit the advancement of society globally,” said Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Founder & President of the Women Political Leaders Global Forum. “Convening women political leaders who have the drive and the influence to create positive change and enabling a discussion on how new technologies can advance national interests is a key step towards action on the national and local levels.”
DLT to the World
Having so many influential world leader and government officials being sensitized to the nature and benefits of blockchain technology to the global economy is a huge step in increasing both its visibility and its acceptability.
Seeing as few things indicate a presence on the world stage like being discussed at a United Nations’ forum, it is also a testament to how far the DLT has come from being regarded as a fad on the internet.
