A top-notch communication app named ‘Keet’ has been introduced today which is a joint venture of Tether (USDT), Bitfinex exchange, and Hypercore (an open-source program). Keet is a P2P app that enables users to make both audio and video calls and send attachments as well.
Details
Keet is an upgraded version of Holepunch which was designed to combat censorship restrictions all over the globe and empower users. The new version, called the alpha version, is an entirely encrypted platform for developing P2P apps. It is packed with innovative technology including databases with distributed hash tables (DHT) that are useful in both the home and office networks. It is referred to as Distributed Holepunching that enables users to find and connect to others by using cryptographic key pairs. Keet is designed in such a way that it puts the users in the driving seat so they can have control.
Funding for this project has been provided to Hypercore by Tether, the issuer of world-famous stablecoin USDT, and Bitfinex, a famous cryptocurrency exchange. A mobile version of Keet is also under development ad will be available for download on its website in the last quarter of 2022.
Keet was the need of the hour as the crypto-verse was lacking a decentralized communication medium. At the moment people are dependent on Twitter, Discord, and Telegram for communication and now people will move towards Keet. The main advantage of Keet over other options is that it will provide privacy as the chances of data theft in other communication platforms are very high. In addition, Keet users can communicate with others directly as there is no cloud-based software in between. As it is a decentralized platform, it doesn’t rely on any single server.
Keet & Bitcoin
The participants of this platform (Tether, Hypercore, and Bitfinex) have plans to embed Bitcoin into the venture. It means that users will be able to make Bitcoin payments and stream to content creators as well. The CTO of the project, Paolo Ardoino, has said that Bitcoin and Tether payments are add-on features of Keet that will provide payment options for people using the Holepunch network. He further said that freedom of communication is a must for progress in Web3 and Keet will provide it thus it is worth expanding. Ardoino has now been appointed as the Chief Strategy Officer.
The CEO of Holpunch, Mathias Buus also expressed his thoughts about the project that soon it will become the most used communication app in the crypto-verse. Many cryptocurrencies want to become a part of this project but so far only Bitcoin and Tether have been provided a chance.
Holepunch uses a closed source framework at the moment and alpha testing is being carried out by the developers. It is expected that it will move to open source in November 2022. The platform will not be dependent on any blockchain but the payment APIs will run powered by Bitcoin Lightning Network. As Tether is the main sponsor, Tether tokens will be supported as the default micropayment option for users.
