• The report highlights changes to the platform as well as two competitions.
NEO Global Development (NGD) have released their monthly report for the month of September 2018 on their blog.
The report follows a new format that the company has chosen to adopt following positive feedback towards their August report which used the new format.
NEO-CLI 2.9.0 and Akka Framework
September saw the introduction of the Akka framework to the NEO 2.9.0. The framework allowes the 2.9.0 to bypass the usual limitations associated with traditional programming while using the Actor model.
This improvement came into play with the introduction of the NEO and NEO-CLI 2.9.0. which has its additional features in the form of plugins which made their use easier and also made it possible to implement additional nodes without having to input complicated commands to start NEO-CLI.
All these served to create increased flexibility and ease of use of the nodes.
CNEO and CGAS
The NEO ecosystem, like others, has seen a significant increase in the number of decentralized apps (dApps) used on the platform. To keep up with the increasingly unique needs of users, NEO has implemented a number of contract assets.
NGD has developed CNEO and CGAS, which are used to convert NEO and GAS into equivalents that are NEP-5 smart contract equivalents.
They help solve the problem of NEO and GAS not being compatible with smart contacts. This has previously made them difficult to use.
The problem is tackled by converting NEO and GAS to an equivalent that can be used easily by smart contacts and allows them to be used with ease.
It is also possible to exchange CNEO and CGAS for NEO and GAS at a 1:1 ratio.
NEO Vulnerability Bounty Program
In September, NEO created a bounty program to help strengthen their platform security.
The program is an open call to security experts, whether individuals or as a team, to identify possible vulnerabilities in the system and report it to NEO management.
Depending on how severe the vulnerability reported is, they will be rewarded.
NEO Creative Design Competition
NEO also opened a competition that calls for creatives to design icons and logos that they feel reflect NEO’s brand and philosophy.
The prize for the competition is $30,000 and it ends on the 14th of October.
