A brand new car, a sterling grey 2012 Ford Fusion valued at $7,560 was sold for Dash cryptocurrency at AutoFair in Merrimack for payment totaling 30.9855 Dash, paid for in full up front. The transaction was processed via Anypay, a digital currency point-of-sale App that is used widely in the state of New Hampshire.
Derrick J, Freeman, an official from Anypay who convinced the merchant to accept the Dash crypto payment said the payment was simple and straightforward. Freeman stated:
“The paying part was delightful, it was super easy. It was pretty amazing actually. Had I walked into the dealership with a stack of twenties, it would have been way more difficult. It just seemed right, modern, and efficient. It was also playful and fun whereas paper cash is way less fun, Tedious.”
Dash is a leading peer-to-peer cryptocurrency used for payments that is now accepted as a payment method in the auto dealership in New Hampshire. After selling the first car that was paid for entirely with the Dash crypto, the state’s largest chain of auto dealerships has stated a promotional discount for the next several automobiles that will be paid for with Dash.
The event took place quietly, with no fanfare or trumpeting of horns. All that was needed was the sound of jingling coins hitting the digital cash register App Anypay on the car leadership iPad, followed by a handshake from salesman Doug Weisberg who sealed the deal.
New Hampshire has had many firsts, starting from secession from England, first to vote in the primaries, and now, the state has become the first in the United States to trail the blaze towards fully embracing cryptocurrencies. Commenting on the historic transaction, Steven Zeiler, the CEO of Anypay, a leading Dash payment processor said:
“What we did was demonstrate how easy and good using crypto is. It is no longer strange. Now it is: ‘Yeah, we can do that’ […] Buying a vehicle with Dash signifies the next phase of digital currency adoption as we transition to a world where permanent, durable, expensive capital goods can be purchased with private digital cash.”
Dash is the most popular cryptocurrency in New Hampshire and is accepted at a large number and a wide variety of merchants, with nearly 80 listed on Dash merchant listing site DiscoverDash.
