The Palm Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing creative endeavors within the Palm Network, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative by offering a generous $45,000 grant to artists selected by the Patio curatorial committee. This grant is intended to support and elevate artists whose installations will be showcased at Patio by ZsONAMACO during the Art Baja California art fair on March 7-8, 2024.
Patio by ZsONAMACO is an outdoor exhibition renowned for its display of art installations, outdoor sculptures, and ephemeral works, situated in the enchanting gardens of Jardin Escultórico Puerto Los Cabos in San José. Hosted by ZsONAMACO, Latin America’s premier art fair platform, the event draws tens of thousands of art enthusiasts and hundreds of exhibitors from across the globe.
Shaping the Future of Artistic Expression
The Palm Foundation’s grant offers selected artists the freedom to create large-scale physical pieces that will prominently feature in this prestigious event. Notably, this program aims to bridge the physical and digital realms by requiring each grant recipient to mint 3 to 5 NFTs related to their exhibited artwork. Palm Foundation will provide comprehensive technical support to ensure a seamless integration of the physical and digital aspects of the artworks.
In a groundbreaking move, these NFTs will be issued on the Palm Network, a blockchain ecosystem specifically designed for the creative arts. Artists will retain full intellectual and commercial rights to their work, with the option to choose from various commercial platforms if they decide to sell their NFTs.
To further highlight the featured artists, Palm Foundation will invite each participant to select one of their minted NFTs for a Palm DAO community vote. The artist with the highest number of votes will be awarded an additional $1,000 grant, fostering a sense of community engagement and recognition.
This grant opportunity is part of Palm Foundation’s broader commitment to fostering the professional development of artists. In addition to the Patio by ZsONAMACO initiative, Palm Foundation is also sponsoring similar programs for artist residencies in Mexico City and Berlin, providing artists with a unique chance to explore the world of NFTs and expand their digital footprint.
The Palm Foundation is driven by a mission to empower historically marginalized creative communities in the Web3 era, offering critical education, opportunities, and amplification of diverse creators on the Palm Network. This ecosystem is pioneering a new era of collaboration, ownership, and identity, shifting the value of time spent and content created away from centralized entities back to the creators.
As the art world converges with cutting-edge technology, this development between Palm Foundation and Patio by ZsONAMACO promises to be a significant step towards redefining the future of artistic expression, merging traditional and digital mediums to create a more inclusive and empowering landscape for artists worldwide.
