Last Updated: November 3, 2026
Polkadot (DOT) trades near $0.94 on November 3, 2026, with a market cap of about $1.60 billion (#48 on CoinMarketCap). It lost about 23% in October, its third losing month of more than 20% this year, and it is down about 48% since the end of 2025 and about 98% below its November 2021 all-time high of $55.00.
For the end of 2026, the two models we track put DOT at about $0.77 (CoinLore, base case) to $0.89 (CoinCodex), and their central 2030 estimates run from about $0.47 (CoinCodex) to $1.75 (CoinLore). Its 2.1 billion hard supply cap, approved in 2025 and applied with the March 2026 issuance cut, remains in force.
Polkadot was built to connect many specialized blockchains through one shared security layer. In the past year, it moved its core functions to a new hub chain, launched Ethereum-compatible smart contracts, capped its token supply, got its first US spot ETF and, in October, launched its own stablecoin, dotUSD. None of that has stopped the slide: DOT lost about 73% in 2025 and has fallen further in 2026.
This update covers the current DOT price and October’s drop, the Binance hack, the latest Polkadot news, the forecasts for 2026 to 2030, how accurate past forecasts were and what it would take for DOT to reach $10 or its record again.
Key Takeaways
- DOT trades about 98% below its all-time high of $55.00, set on November 4, 2021, and about 29% above the all-time low of $0.728 it hit on August 18, 2026, according to CoinMarketCap
- DOT fell about 23% in October, from $1.22 to $0.95, including a 10% drop on October 29, the day of the Binance hack, and it is down about 48% since the end of 2025
- Polkadot was not among the 15 networks Binance reopened for withdrawals on November 1; Binance began reopening more assets and networks on November 3, and we could not confirm whether DOT was among them
- The 2.1 billion DOT hard cap remains in force, and new issuance has been about 55 million DOT a year since March 14, 2026
- Polkadot launched its native stablecoin dotUSD on October 8, and the Polkadot Community Foundation told Fearless Wallet extension users on October 21 to move their funds after a private key leak
- The only US spot DOT ETF, 21Shares’ TDOT, held about 10.1 million DOT ($9.7 million) on October 30
- The two models we track put DOT between about $0.77 and $0.89 at the end of 2026, and their central 2030 estimates range from about $0.47 to $1.75

Polkadot Price Today and the October Drop
DOT closed September at about $1.22 after a 45% rally, its best month of 2026. It gave most of that back in October. It reached its October high of about $1.29 on October 10, dipped below $1 intraday on October 26 and 27 and fell about 10% on October 29, the day Binance disclosed the hack of its hot wallets, closing at $0.909.
It touched about $0.88 the next day and ended the month at $0.946, down about 23%. On November 3 it traded near $0.94, down about 5% over seven days and about 22% over 30 days.
The Binance hack hit the whole market. Binance put the theft at about $6.3 billion, and the FBI attributed it to TraderTraitor, a North Korean hacking unit, on October 31, according to CoinDesk. Binance began reopening withdrawals in phases on November 1, and all 15 networks in the first phase were open by 12:36 UTC, according to Bitcoin.com News. That list included Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP Ledger and Dogecoin, but not Polkadot.
Binance’s November 2 proof of reserves covered 10 assets, also without DOT. Binance began reopening withdrawals for more assets and networks at 04:00 UTC on November 3, according to FinanceFeeds, which said the reopening remains progressive. We could not confirm whether DOT was included at the time of this update. Binance says it has replenished about 95% of the stolen amount; that figure is its own and has not been independently verified.
DOT’s own news added pressure. A bug understated the recorded supply of the new dotUSD stablecoin in late October (see below), and the Fearless Wallet warning came on October 21. The wider market was weak too: Bitcoin traded near $77,200 on November 3, down about 3% over seven days, according to CoinMarketCap.
What Is Polkadot (DOT)?
Polkadot is a proof-of-stake network co-founded by Gavin Wood, a co-founder of Ethereum, with Robert Habermeier and Peter Czaban. The Web3 Foundation backed its launch, and Parity Technologies is its core developer. Instead of running every application on one chain, the network lets many blockchains, originally called parachains, share the security of a central relay chain and pass messages to each other. Since 2024, projects rent this capacity through Agile Coretime instead of winning multi-year slot auctions.
DOT is used for staking, governance and paying for network resources. Holders vote on almost every change through on-chain referenda, including the token’s own economics. In November 2025, Polkadot moved balances, staking and governance from the relay chain to Asset Hub, the system chain at the center of what Polkadot now calls Polkadot Hub. More background is available on the official Polkadot website.
Polkadot News: What Has Happened in 2026
Latest news (October 21 to November 2). On October 21, the Polkadot Community Foundation warned on the Polkadot Forum that Fearless Wallet browser extension versions 3.0.1, 3.0.3, 3.0.4 and 3.0.5 had leaked private keys. The code was added on February 19, 2025, and was active at times until October 10, 2026.
Eight users reported unauthorized transfers totaling 17,286 DOT, and the foundation told anyone who used the extension since February 2025 to create new keys in another wallet and move their funds. Fearless is a third-party wallet; mobile-only users were not affected by this code, according to the notice.
On October 26, the Technical Fellowship reported an XCM bug on Asset Hub that removed about 4.06 million dotUSD from the recorded supply while the tokens stayed in the DOT/dotUSD pool, which arbitrage traders exploited. The forum post estimated a $1.3 million reduction in the treasury’s liquidity position and said user wallets were not affected.
Referendum 1961, executed on October 30, corrected the recorded supply and restored the Snowbridge bridge, which a weight error in runtime upgrade 2.5.1 (executed on October 26) had put on hold. On November 2, Referendum 1958 enabled the last on-chain settings for username registration in the Polkadot App, and a “DOT DAO Strategy Mandate” that would make user acquisition the DAO’s top priority is still in voting.
dotUSD stablecoin. Referendum 1944, executed on October 8, 2026, created dotUSD as Polkadot’s protocol-owned stablecoin and seeded a DOT/dotUSD pool on Polkadot Hub with $2.5 million in USDT-minted dotUSD and $2.5 million in DOT from the treasury.
In this first phase, dotUSD is minted one-to-one against USDT, up to a cap. A second phase is meant to add vaults that let users mint dotUSD against DOT collateral, with an oracle and liquidation rules that are still being finalized, according to the proposal.
Supply cap and issuance cut. In September 2025, DOT holders approved Referendum 1710, which caps total supply at 2.1 billion DOT. Under the new schedule, annual issuance fell from 120 million to 55 million DOT on March 14, 2026, and every two years it will be reset to 13.14% of the supply still left to be minted, which cuts it by roughly a quarter at each step.
CoinMarketCap lists a maximum supply of 2.1 billion DOT, and we found no referendum that would change the cap. About 81% of the capped supply already exists.
New economic model. A second referendum, approved on January 28, 2026, set out the Dynamic Allocation Pool (DAP) and new staking rules. Since runtime upgrade 2.1.1 went live on March 23, 2026, Polkadot no longer burns treasury funds, and slashed validator stakes go to the DAP instead.
Follow-up referenda set a minimum validator commission of 10% on April 1 and a minimum validator self-stake of 10,000 DOT on June 12, 2026. The dotUSD proposal says a later phase of the DAP is meant to pay validators and nominators in stablecoins.
Smart contracts and Polkadot Hub. On January 27, 2026, smart contracts went live on Polkadot Hub. The Revive system runs both unmodified Ethereum (EVM) contracts and contracts for PolkaVM, Polkadot’s own virtual machine. This followed the November 2025 migration that moved about 1.6 billion DOT across 1.53 million accounts to Asset Hub in about eight hours, according to Parity.
Hyperbridge exploit. On April 13, 2026, an attacker used a flaw in the gateway contract of Hyperbridge, a cross-chain protocol built on Polkadot, to mint 1 billion bridged DOT on Ethereum and sold them for about $237,000, according to The Block, citing CertiK. Polkadot said the exploit affected only DOT bridged to Ethereum through Hyperbridge, not DOT on Polkadot itself.
ETFs. The 21Shares Polkadot ETF (Nasdaq: TDOT), the first US spot DOT ETF, began trading on March 6, 2026, with a 0.30% fee. It began staking its DOT in May and was renamed the 21Shares Polkadot Staking ETF in August. On October 30, it held about 10.1 million DOT, or about 0.6% of circulating supply, with net assets of about $9.7 million and 94% of its DOT staked, according to 21Shares.
Grayscale withdrew its own Polkadot ETF registration on August 7, 2026, the same day it withdrew its Cardano application, as our report on Grayscale’s ETF withdrawals explains; our Cardano price prediction covers that side. We found no other US spot DOT ETF trading.
Leadership and JAM. In July, Gavin Wood said he would lead Parity’s technical delivery directly, as Pierre Aubert stepped down as vice president of engineering. Parity’s October 12 update on JAM, the planned redesign of Polkadot’s core, describes it as active engineering work expected to culminate in a hard fork, with no date given.
DeFi. DefiLlama shows almost no DeFi on Polkadot’s relay chain itself. Hydration, the largest DeFi chain in the ecosystem, held about $48 million on November 2, down from about $51 million in late October.

| September 26, 2026 | Rebound high of $1.30 |
| October 31, 2026 | $0.946 (down 23% in October) |
| November 3, 2026 | About $0.94 |
DOT reached $55.00 in November 2021, when its market cap peaked at about $53.2 billion on a daily closing basis. It lost 84% in 2022, recovered partly in 2023, then fell in both 2024 and 2025.
Its circulating supply as counted by CoinMarketCap has also risen by about 73% since the 2021 peak, from roughly 988 million to 1.71 billion DOT, partly through new issuance and partly because CoinMarketCap now counts more tokens as circulating, so the same market value is spread across more tokens.
In 2026, DOT fell 25% in March and 31% in June, its worst month, and closed below $1 for the first time in 2026 on June 5. It hit its all-time low on August 18, then rallied 45% in September, the year’s best month.
October erased most of that gain with a drop of about 23%. Its biggest single day was February 25, when it jumped about 34% on the year’s highest trading volume; we found no confirmed catalyst, and almost all of the gain was gone by the end of March.
DOT Price Prediction 2026
With two months left in the year, both models we track expect DOT to finish 2026 below today’s price.
| Source (checked November 3, 2026) | Low | Average | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (November to December 2026; end of 2026 target $0.890) | $0.820 | $0.900 | $0.955 |
| CoinLore (end of 2026, bear / base / bull) | $0.461 | $0.768 | $3.38 |
CoinCodex’s end of 2026 target of $0.890 is about 5% below the current price. CoinLore’s base case of $0.768 would be a decline of about 18%, which would still be above August’s record low. Its bull case of $3.38 would be about 3.6 times today’s price. Both models gave the same figures on November 3 as a day earlier.
We no longer list Changelly separately because its yearly figures are built on the same data as CoinCodex’s. We do not use the figures from CoinDataFlow, whose DOT forecasts were almost the same multiples of the current price as its forecasts for other coins, or from BeInCrypto, whose page showed placeholder values when we last checked.
DOT trades about 16% below its 50-day moving average of $1.12 and about 9% below its 200-day average of $1.03, with a 14-day RSI of about 36, according to CoinCodex on November 3. It sits below CoinCodex’s first support level, about $0.945, and just above the second and third, about $0.936 and $0.930. Resistance sits at about $0.960, $0.965 and $0.974. CoinLore puts the first major resistance at about $1.03. These are observed chart levels, not forecasts.
Range of central 2026 estimates: about $0.77 to $0.89.
DOT Price Prediction 2027
| Source | Low | Average | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (monthly range) | $0.535 | $0.721 | $0.892 |
| CoinLore (bear / base / bull) | $0.525 | $0.875 | $3.30 |
The central 2027 estimates range from about $0.72 at CoinCodex to $0.88 at CoinLore, both below the current price. The 2.1 billion cap and lower issuance reduce new supply, but these models are built on past prices and do not try to price in tokenomics changes, dotUSD, JAM or ETF flows.
DOT Price Prediction 2028 and 2029
| Source | 2028 (central) | 2029 (central) |
|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (average of monthly forecasts) | $0.563 | $0.403 |
| CoinLore (base case) | $1.16 | $1.23 |
The models split after 2027. CoinCodex expects DOT to keep falling, to about $0.56 in 2028 and $0.40 in 2029, while CoinLore’s base case sees a recovery to about $1.16 to $1.23.
DOT Price Prediction 2030
| Source | Low | Average | High |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoinCodex (monthly range; end of 2030 target $0.467) | $0.382 | $0.464 | $0.535 |
| CoinLore (bear / base / bull) | $1.05 | $1.75 | $9.09 |
Central 2030 estimates range from about $0.47 to $1.75. CoinCodex’s end of 2030 target of $0.467 is about 50% below the current price. CoinLore’s base case of $1.75 would be a gain of about 88%, and its bull case of $9.09 would be almost ten times today’s price. Neither model puts DOT back near its 2021 high by 2030.
All forecasts are third-party model estimates, not investment advice.
DOT Price Prediction 2040
Long-range forecasts are highly speculative. CoinCodex projects about $1.68 by the end of 2040. CoinLore is far more optimistic, with a base case of $13.89 and a bull case of $40.17, which would value DOT at roughly $29 billion to $84 billion at the full 2.1 billion supply.
How Accurate Are DOT Price Predictions?
Not very, judging by what the same models said a year ago. An archived copy of CoinCodex’s DOT page from November 16, 2025, saved by the Internet Archive, expected DOT to trade between $2.17 and $2.91 in 2026, when it was near $2.87.
DOT got above $2.17 only briefly in January, peaked at $2.34 and then fell to $0.728 in August. CoinLore’s page from November 1, 2025, showed a 2026 range of $35.36 to $40.98 and a 2030 figure of $125.24. CoinLore now runs a different scenario model, whose 2030 base case is $1.75.
Both sites say their figures come from past prices and technical indicators. That makes them a record of momentum, not a view on Polkadot’s adoption, and it is why their forecasts fell as fast as the price did. Treat any single figure as one scenario, compare several dated sources, and check market data against CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko.
For network facts, such as the supply cap, dotUSD or referendum results, the primary sources are Polkadot’s governance records on Subsquare, the Polkadot Forum and the official Polkadot website. Claims about ETF approvals or exchange listings should be checked with the issuer, the exchange or SEC filings; our guide on how to verify crypto news and rumors explains how.
What Drives the DOT Price?
- Supply changes: the hard cap and the 2026 issuance cut lowered new supply to about 3.2% of circulating DOT a year, from about 7% before. Lower inflation can reduce selling pressure, but demand still has to grow for the price to rise.
- Network use: Polkadot Hub smart contracts, cheaper coretime and the dotUSD stablecoin are meant to attract developers and users. DeFi activity across the ecosystem remains small, with Hydration, the largest DeFi chain, at about $48 million on DefiLlama.
- ETF demand: the 21Shares staking ETF is small, at about $9.7 million in net assets on October 30. Larger inflows could add steady demand, while Grayscale’s withdrawal removed a second potential product.
- Staking: most of TDOT’s DOT is staked, and changes under the new economic model, such as the 10,000 DOT validator minimum and plans to pay stakers in stablecoins, affect how attractive staking is.
- Delivery of JAM: a successful JAM upgrade could change how Polkadot is valued, but Parity has not given a launch date.
- Security and exchanges: the Binance hack, the Fearless Wallet leak and the dotUSD supply bug all hit sentiment in October. Whether and when Binance fully reopens DOT withdrawals is one of the near-term factors to watch.
- The wider market: DOT still tends to move with Bitcoin and overall risk appetite. Our Bitcoin price prediction covers the market leader.
Can Polkadot Reach $10?
Not on the central estimates of either model we track by 2030. With about 1.71 billion DOT in circulation, each price level implies a market cap that can be compared with other coins.
| DOT Price | Market Cap Needed | Multiple of Today’s Price | For Comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| $2.47 | About $4.2B | About 2.6x | Litecoin’s market cap today |
| $10 | About $17.1B | About 11x | Between Dogecoin ($11.8B) and TRON ($30.6B) today |
| $31.11 | About $53.2B | About 33x | DOT’s own peak market cap in 2021 |
| $55.00 (ATH) | About $94.1B | About 59x | Above XRP ($80.7B) today |
| $100 | About $171.0B | About 107x | More than XRP and Solana combined ($135.7B) today |
DOT would need to rise about 2.6 times to match Litecoin’s current value and about 11 times to reach $10.
Because CoinMarketCap’s circulating supply is so much higher than in 2021, matching DOT’s own 2021 peak market cap would now mean a price of about $31, and a return to the $55 record would require a market cap of about $94 billion, more than XRP’s today and about 59 times DOT’s current value.
At the 2.1 billion cap, the figures rise to $21 billion at $10, $115 billion at $55 and $210 billion at $100. Among the models we track, only CoinLore’s bull case gets past $10 before 2030, at $12.66 in 2029, and it then eases to $9.09 in 2030. Neither model’s central case returns DOT to its record by 2040.
Key Risks of DOT
- Record lows: DOT set its all-time low in August 2026, lost about 23% in October and trades about 98% below its 2021 high
- Weak demand so far: DeFi deposits in the ecosystem are small, and the only US spot DOT ETF held about $9.7 million on October 30
- Wallet, bridge and exchange risk: the Fearless Wallet key leak, the Hyperbridge exploit in April and the October dotUSD supply bug show that third-party software and new products can fail, and DOT was not in Binance’s first withdrawal reopening on November 1
- Delivery risk: JAM and the second phase of dotUSD have no firm dates, and Parity changed its engineering leadership in July
- Validator economics: some validators said on the Polkadot Forum that their rewards fell after the new economic model, which could affect decentralization
- Competition: Ethereum layer 2 networks, Solana and other platforms compete with Polkadot for developers and users
- Model limits: most forecasts extrapolate past prices and cannot anticipate ETF flows, upgrades or market sentiment, and last year’s forecasts for 2026 were far too high
Where to Buy DOT
DOT has spot markets on most major exchanges, including:
- Binance: DOT/USDT, DOT/USDC, DOT/BTC, DOT/EUR and others
- Coinbase: DOT/USD
- Kraken: DOT/USD, DOT/EUR, DOT/GBP and others
- Crypto.com: DOT/USD
Binance removed its DOT/BNB pair in June 2026, but its other main DOT pairs remain. After the October 29 hack, Polkadot was not among the first 15 networks Binance reopened for withdrawals on November 1.
Binance began reopening more networks on November 3, so check its own notices before planning to move DOT off the exchange. Availability depends on your country, so check what each exchange offers where you live. Our guide to the best crypto exchanges compares fees and features.
DOT can be staked directly through nomination pools or by nominating validators from a Polkadot wallet, and many exchanges also offer staking. If you ever used the Fearless Wallet browser extension, follow the Polkadot Community Foundation’s advice and move your funds to new keys in another wallet. The 21Shares Polkadot Staking ETF (TDOT) is listed on Nasdaq and is available through US brokerage accounts. Our crypto wallets guide explains the trade-offs between wallet types.
Is Polkadot (DOT) a Good Investment?
That depends on your view of Polkadot’s technology and your tolerance for risk. The bull case rests on the 2.1 billion supply cap, lower issuance, smart contracts on Polkadot Hub, the new dotUSD stablecoin, a US staking ETF and the JAM upgrade. The bear case is that DOT keeps hitting new lows despite these changes, that on-chain activity is small, that October brought a string of security problems and that both models we track expect lower prices through 2027.
DOT has lost about 98% of its value since its 2021 peak, and further losses are possible. ETF flows, growth in Polkadot Hub and dotUSD activity, the full reopening of DOT withdrawals on Binance and progress on JAM are the main known factors that could affect DOT over the next year. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Polkadot price prediction for 2026?
The two models we track put DOT between about $0.77 and $0.89 at the end of 2026, below its November 3 price of about $0.94. CoinCodex expects about $0.89, and CoinLore’s base case is $0.768, with a bear case of $0.461 and a bull case of $3.38. Both models are built on past prices, and a year ago they expected far higher prices for 2026.
What is the Polkadot price prediction for 2030?
Central 2030 estimates range from about $0.47 at CoinCodex to $1.75 at CoinLore, whose bull case is $9.09. The models disagree widely because they are algorithmic and built on past prices. Neither expects DOT to return to its 2021 high of $55 by 2030, and CoinCodex expects it to stay well below $1, about half of today’s price.
Why is Polkadot going down?
DOT fell about 23% in October as the Binance hack on October 29 hit the whole market, and Polkadot was not among the first networks Binance reopened for withdrawals. Polkadot also faced a Fearless Wallet key leak and a bug that broke the recorded supply of its new dotUSD stablecoin. Weak on-chain demand and a long downtrend since 2021 add to the pressure.
Can I withdraw DOT from Binance after the hack?
It was not possible as of November 2. Binance reopened withdrawals on 15 networks on November 1, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, but Polkadot was not on the list. Binance began reopening more assets and networks on November 3, and we could not confirm whether DOT was included. Check Binance’s own announcements before planning a DOT transfer.
Does Polkadot have a supply cap?
Yes. In September 2025, DOT holders approved a hard cap of 2.1 billion DOT, and it remains in force. On March 14, 2026, annual issuance fell from 120 million to 55 million DOT, and every two years it will be reset to 13.14% of the supply still left to be minted. About 1.71 billion DOT, or roughly 81% of the cap, was circulating on November 3.
Is there a Polkadot ETF?
Yes. The 21Shares Polkadot Staking ETF (TDOT) has traded on Nasdaq since March 6, 2026, charges a 0.30% fee and stakes most of its DOT. On October 30, it held about 10.1 million DOT, worth about $9.7 million, according to 21Shares. Grayscale withdrew its own Polkadot ETF application in August 2026, and we found no other US spot DOT ETF trading.
Can Polkadot reach $10?
Not on the central estimates of either model we track by 2030. At $10, DOT would need a market cap of about $17.1 billion, roughly 11 times today’s value. Only CoinLore’s bull case goes above $10, at $12.66 in 2029, before easing to $9.09 in 2030. Returning to the $55 record would now require a market cap of about $94 billion.
How accurate are Polkadot price predictions?
Past forecasts have been far too high. In November 2025, CoinCodex expected DOT to trade between $2.17 and $2.91 in 2026, and CoinLore showed $35 to $41. DOT instead peaked at $2.34 in January and fell to $0.728 in August. Most forecast sites extrapolate past prices, so treat their figures as rough scenarios and compare several dated sources.
What is dotUSD on Polkadot?
dotUSD is Polkadot’s protocol-owned stablecoin, created by Referendum 1944 on October 8, 2026. In its first phase, it is minted one-to-one against USDT up to a cap, with a DOT/dotUSD pool on Polkadot Hub seeded by the treasury. A bug in late October understated its recorded supply by about 4.06 million tokens, and Referendum 1961 fixed the records on October 30.
What is JAM on Polkadot?
JAM is a planned redesign of Polkadot’s core protocol, proposed by Gavin Wood, that would turn the network into a more general computing platform while keeping support for existing chains. Parity said in October 2026 that JAM remains active engineering work and is expected to culminate in a hard fork, but it gave no launch date. Several independent teams are building JAM clients.
Where can I buy Polkadot?
DOT trades on most major exchanges, including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken and Crypto.com, against the US dollar, the euro, stablecoins and Bitcoin. Availability depends on your country, and DOT was not in Binance’s first withdrawal reopening after its hack. After buying, holders can stake DOT through nomination pools from a Polkadot wallet, and the 21Shares staking ETF trades on Nasdaq.
