Ronin Network, a blockchain for NFTs and gaming, has officially integrated the OP Stack of Optimism, the Ethereum-centered L2 scaling solution. With this integration, Ronin intends to be converted into an Ethereum L2.
As Ronin Network’s official X announcement points out, the decision was reportedly finalized following the vote by the Ronin Governing Validators in favor last week. The development denotes a key development in reconnecting more straightforwardly with the scalability and security of Ethereum.
Ronin Transitions into Ethereum L2 by Integrating Optimism’s OP Stack
By integrating Optimism’s OP Stack, Ronin aims to carry out a transition to an Ethereum L2. OP Stack serves as a set of diverse open-source development instruments that the top platforms utilize to develop scalable L2 solutions via Ethereum. In this respect, Uniswap’s Unichain, Kraken’s Ink, and Coinbase’s Base have deployed the respective technology to drive their ecosystems.
Now, Ronin has also integrated OP Stack while planning to become a completely integrated Ethereum L2. The respective process will reportedly take a few months to accomplish. Interestingly, after the $12M security attack, which significantly compromised the Ronin Network, this development signifies a critical upgrade. A key benefit of the integration takes into account the technical upgrade.
Unlocking Rapid Transfers and Strengthening Infrastructure with Expanded Builder Support
In this respect, the integration backs nearly 1M transfers per second. Additionally, Ronin will get rapider block times within the 100-200 milliseconds range. Simultaneously, the transition will provide Ronin with the resilient security model of Ethereum. This is anticipated to substantially fortify its infrastructure.
As per Ronin Network, other than technical improvements, the upgrade will broaden support and funding for the developer ecosystem. Hence, the developers will be able to reach allocations from the 850M $OP Retro Fund of Optimism. This guarantees builders can scale projects effectively while leveraging more financial incentives.
