First embedded stablecoin lending integration demonstrates how on-chain capital rails can reach verified global majority borrowers at scale
Tala, the AI-native credit infrastructure connecting global capital to the global majority, today announced a strategic embedded credit partnership with Airtm, the most connected digital wallet in the world. The integration, which is Tala’s first deployment of its credit intelligence through on-chain rails, disburses loans in USDC directly to Airtm customers, starting in Latin America.
This is Tala’s first live demonstration that its AI-native underwriting, built on a decade of proprietary borrower data, can power stablecoin-denominated credit at scale. The collaboration, which will go live in the Airtm wallet this month, will enable faster, lower-cost, and more flexible access to capital for customers in emerging markets.
“We spent a decade building a direct-to-consumer business that solves one of the hardest problems in global credit: identity, underwriting, and trust for thin-file borrowers,” said Shivani Siroya, founder and CEO of Tala. “Embedding Tala’s intelligence into Airtm, and settling in USDC, does something fiat-based lending can’t: it connects global majority customers to on-chain capital that is faster, more efficient, and not constrained by local funding markets. For many of these customers, this is their first step into on-chain finance. That’s the journey we’re opening up, and Airtm is the first partner we’re making it real with.”
Tala and Airtm’s strategic embedded credit partnership features:
- Embedded Credit-as-a-Service: Airtm customers can access Tala-underwritten credit without leaving the Airtm app, benefiting from a seamless end-to-end experience managed via APIs, with disbursement in USDC directly to their digital wallet.
- AI-native decisioning at the point of transaction: Tala’s decision engine uses Airtm’s verified customer data to provide real-time credit offers, allowing for single-source deduplication and dynamic risk assessment built on behavioral signals, not bureau scores.
- Stablecoin Integration: Loans are disbursed in USDC directly to Airtm customer’s wallet. With Airtm’s global footprint, the integration has the potential for millions to enter into the digital asset economy for the first time.
“Our partnership with Tala represents a major milestone in the evolution of the digital asset economy. We’re excited to offer this unique credit-as-a-service product feature to our customers without needing to create an entire lending business framework,” said Ruben Galindo Co-Founder of Airtm. “This integration with Tala allows us to instantly provide flexible liquidity to our customers, driving growth for both Airtm and our users.”
The partnership kicks off in Guatemala this month with the intention to expand into more markets in Latin America soon.
This partnership signals Tala’s broader ambition to build a global infrastructure layer for inclusive finance, leveraging new financial rails, including tokenized and on-chain systems, to unlock scalable liquidity and access for the global majority. As stablecoin wallets proliferate across emerging markets, every new wallet becomes a deployment node for Tala’s credit intelligence and an opportunity to make on-chain liquidity accessible and productive for real-world consumers.
