The blockchain development sector maintains extensive activity across multiple operating networks. A recent report from santiment analyzed the top blockchain ecosystems through a developer event and contributor analysis to determine which ecosystems displayed the most industry engagement. The evaluation system addresses how blockchain innovation and community participation remains active.
Ethereum continues to lead blockchain development through its 163.6K developer events although its numbers dropped by 15.67%. The ecosystem retains its leadership position through its 1.7K contributors despite registering a small reduction in developer numbers by 3.59%.
BNB Chain and Polygon: Active Ecosystems with Slight Declines
BNB Chain demonstrates developer events of 73.7K while experiencing a decline of 14.84%. The development is supported by its strong 865 developer contributors. The total number of contributors at Polygon has remained consistent and developer events decreased by 22.13% to reach 68.5K.
Arbitrum has attracted increasing interest from developers in its activity. Developer events in the ecosystem dropped by 18.25% to reach 59.5K but the increased developer contributions at 1.43% indicated positive growth. The Optimism scaling solution for Ethereum has recorded 57.1K events along with a decrease of 18.67%. The commitment to scaling Ethereum using Layer 2 solutions persists despite the 496 contributors found in this project.
Avalanche, Cosmos, and Harmony: Shifting Activity Levels
The number of developer activities decreased slightly for Avalanche and Cosmos. The developer events for Avalanche decreased by 18.63% to reach 47.1K while Cosmos maintained a 10.68% decrease with 43K events. Cosmos experienced a positive growth of developer contributors as its count increased by 7.58%. Harmony ecosystem recorded a 17.6% reduction in developer events which reached 41.3K events throughout the year.
The Solana blockchain lost 14.89% of developer activity through 41.2K events while Polkadot developer numbers decreased 15.25% to 33.8K events. These developer population reductions neither Solana nor Polkadot have faced do not affect their strong developer support as the former expands marginally and the latter sustains its developer base at current levels.
