Ubisoft is continuing its foray into new frontiers in the Web3 domain, announcing a partnership with Metaverse platform The Sandbox
The Sandbox & Ubisoft Partnership
The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual world and subsidiary of Animoca Brands, announced a strategic partnership with Ubisoft to bring Ubisoft game IP features to The Sandbox gaming Metaverse. Ubisoft will have its own LAND entertainment destination with interactive activities, and gamers and artists will be able to include voxel characters and things into their own creations using The Sandbox’s free VoxEdit and Game Maker #nocode development tools.
Within its Metaverse, The Sandbox has worked with a variety of different businesses. Most recently, it joined with Warner Music to create a Metaverse environment focused around music. “We welcome Ubisoft into the open Metaverse as we work together to build new opportunities for gamers, fans, and creators using blockchain and Web 3,” Sebastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, said of the company’s cooperation with Ubisoft.
To the uninitiated, The Sandbox’s Game Maker tool enables anybody to create 3D games without writing a single line of code. By contrast, VoxEdit is a piece of software that allows gamers to construct and animate their own voxel-based NFT. Additionally, players may sell their NFTs on The Sandbox marketplace. Quartz, which incorporates NFTs and tradeable items into tactical shooter ‘Ghost Recon Breakpoint,’ drew widespread criticism upon its introduction, with many asking for Ubisoft to forsake the concept of NFTs in their games.
