The limited-edition NFT collection will be viewed on the Sony Spatial Reality Display, which produces the feeling of solid 3D objects.
NFTs are getting another another step closer to being a reality in the real world. Two types of 3D NFTs, specifically developed for use with the Sony Spatial Reality Display, are being launched by Theta Labs, the company that operates the blockchain-based streaming video platform Theta (SRD).
A Sony Electronics official stated that the non-fungible token release is a method for the company to demonstrate the possibilities of Sony’s new Spatial Reality Display tech to NFT and Metaverse aficionados. He went on to say that: “Consumers can now enjoy a next-generation 3D experience without the need for 3D eyewear. Theta’s non-fungible tokens are just the latest way we can show our rapid adoption of Metaverse-friendly technology.”
The Tiki Guy, a 3D Tiki Mask created by Sony and Theta, will be released as a non-fungible token by Sony and Theta. Only ten of such NFTs will ever be produced. While the non-fungible token drop is designed primarily for 3D viewing, 2D variants of the device will also be made accessible in the future.
In addition to Katy Perry’s debut NFT collection, ThetaDrop, Theta Labs’ NFT marketplace, has previously issued promotional non-fungible token (NFT) sets for the (WPT) World Poker Tour, the singing competition “American Idol,” and the game show “The Price is Right,” among other things.
One of the most significant challenges confronting the Metaverse, according to technology experts, is the development of technologies that allow people to effortlessly engage themselves in virtual worlds without relying on excessively or expensive gear. Some non-traditional technology (NFT) businesses have sought to use smartphone technology to remedy this problem through the use of augmented reality (AR). Providing a link between the physical and digital worlds is something that devices like Sony’s SRD can do, but as the Theta/Sony non-fungible token drop’s hardware giveaway indicates, the device’s $5,000 price tag could make it prohibitively expensive for casual consumers to utilize.
With the Spatial Reality Image, viewers may enjoy a 3D visual experience by tracking their eye movements and adjusting the display as they walk about. According to Mitch Liu, co-founder and chief executive officer of Theta Labs, NFTs and Metaverses have a “great potential” for 3D visualization as a result of this.
Also emphasized by Liu is that, at this time, the non-fungible token business is primarily constituted of 2D pictures and video. The CEO of Theta Labs, on the other hand, believes that the “Metaverse is already 3D.” This means that users must be able to “visualize and present their NFTs in a way that has a physical presence,” which indicates that a physical presence is required.
