- Funding round to continue development on Polkadot, Ethereum, and Polygon
Ajuna Network, a decentralized gaming network based in Switzerland, revealed today that it has successfully raised $7 million in funding over the course of several rounds, including seed funding and private rounds. The private round brought in $5 million, and it was led by CMCC Global, which is a major investment firm in the technology industry.
An additional $2 million were raised at the seed round, which was headed by Fundamental Labs and disclosed in February 2022. In addition to OKX Blockdream Ventures and Signum Capital, blockchain game publisher Animoca Brands is also among the investors in Ajuna’s parent business, BloGa Tech AG. CMCC Global is the new addition to this group of investors in Ajuna’s parent company.
Charlie Morris, Founding Partner of CMCC Global, said: “We are thrilled to be leading this funding round into Ajuna. The platform empowers studios to incorporate immutable digital assets into their games, resulting in powerful new experiences for gamers. We are excited about the upcoming releases on Ajuna and look forward to supporting the team as they take blockchain gaming mainstream.”
Enhancing Gaming Experience with Blockchain and NFTs
Ajuna Network intends to put the recent funding it received into action by expanding its efforts to integrate its suite of tools with industry-leading game engines and creating off-chain game operators that make use of trusted execution environments (TEEs). The purpose of this project is to provide evidence that the utilization of blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have the potential to result in an improved gaming experience.
In order for the network to accomplish this goal, it will keep investing in community products in collaboration with other companies and support teams as those groups bring their games and products to Ajuna Network. The long-term goal of the company is to make the implementation of blockchain technology in gaming a seamless and trouble-free endeavor, effectively abstracting the technology as an essential component of the industry’s infrastructure.
Cedric Decoster, CEO of Ajuna Network, said: “We are ecstatic by the support of our new investors led by CMCC Global, who not only share our drive to build out Ajuna Network but also our passion for the gaming space. With this strong support and growing community, we will continue building out on Polkadot, Ethereum, and Polygon.”
Ajuna’s flagship game, BattleMogs, served as the creative driving force behind the first season of the Awesome Ajuna Avatars. More seasons are scheduled to release later this year. The company is completely committed to carrying on with the process of developing products for the community and will launch new Web3 gaming experiences in collaboration with its gaming partners.
Bringing Web3 Gaming to a Mass Audience
Both of Ajuna Network’s parachains, Bajun and Ajuna Network, have previously been obtained on Kusama and Polkadot, respectively, by Ajuna Network. The team is looking forward to working with their partners to bring Web3 gaming to a large audience now that the technical architecture has been implemented, the first products have been brought to market, and the upcoming launch of games live on the network is fast approaching.
Eric Yang Chunfu from Fundamental Labs said: “We are proud to have led Ajuna’s seed funding round and to have seen the iteration of Ajuna’s product and the continued growth of the team. The successful closing of this round is further evidence of its value being recognized in the industry.”
Ajuna eliminates obstacles to onboarding for both traditional players and game developers by creating fully integrated versions of the world’s main development engines, Unreal and Unity, that are compatible with blockchain technology and NFTs. The issue of existing blockchain games being somewhat slow and lacking in technical sophistication is going to be addressed by the platform.
This will make it possible for game developers to create decentralized games utilizing industry-leading platforms such as Unity and Unreal. To accomplish this, game engines will be operated in powerful TEEs that are off-chain and connected to the Polkadot network in order to achieve a significant reduction in latency.
