A long-term strategic global partnership agreement has been inked between the leading cryptocurrency payments platform, Wirex, and the payments company network, Visa. This includes joining Visa’s networks in APAC, which will enable Wirex to immediately issue crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards to customers in over 40 countries.
Wirex is a globally accessible digital payment platform that is also a regulated organization. In 2015, the company launched the world’s first crypto-enabled payment card, which enables users to spend both traditional currencies and crypto in real life. Wirex encourages the widespread adoption of a cashless society through the use of innovative solutions. The company has more than 5 million users and is rapidly expanding into new countries, including the United States.
Offering New Innovative Products to Boost Crypto Adoption
The partnership between Wirex and Visa will facilitate future collaboration in key markets, such as APAC, the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. As a Visa member, Wirex is able to offer new creative solutions that utilize crypto on a daily basis, enhance the user experience, and explore new blockchain projects.
The development is another significant achievement for the London-based corporation. Wirex’s largest customer base is in the United Kingdom, with strong expansion in APAC, having been a nominee for the SFF Global Fintech Awards at last November’s Singapore Fintech Festival. It is anticipated that this collaboration would continue to assist them in making cryptocurrency accessible to all.
Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC, said “It’s great to strengthen our partnership with Visa, who have played an important role in allowing us to bridge the gap between the traditional and digital economies. Visa’s proven commitment to safety, security, and innovation will help us to continue developing a next-generation app and card.”
Wirex was the first business to introduce a crypto-enabled card in 2015, enabling users to buy, hold, exchange, and spend several traditional currencies and crypto at over 80 million Visa-accepting locations. Wirex will continue to collaborate closely with Visa to extend its offerings and globalize its card program. In the upcoming weeks, Wirex will announce a new partnership for the issuance of cards in Australia.
