Sorare, an Ethereum-based fantasy soccer game, is one of the most well-known sports-related NFT projects now available on the market
MLS & Sorare NFT Partnership
Fantasy soccer game on Ethereum Sorare is one of the most well-known sports NFT ventures on the market, with more than 200 real-world teams on board as partners. Sorare has now inked a contract to integrate the official Major League Soccer license into the game, as part of a growing push in the US market.
In September, Sorare secured $680 million in a Series B financing, bringing the company’s valuation to $4.3 billion. At the same time, the Parisian firm built its first headquarters in the United States. Since then, the MLS partnership is the company’s first with a U.S. sports league. Serena Williams, Gerard Pique, Antoine Griezmann, Rio Ferdinand, Cesar Azpilicueta, and André Schurle are among the athletes who have backed the platform, which had a sales volume of $325 million in 2021, up from $7 million the previous year.
Previously, the Major League Soccer Players Association had formed an autonomous relationship with Sorare. The arrangement, which was announced in June 2020, contained all of the players as tradable NFT cards, but without any official team or league branding. Now, Major League Soccer has signed a multi-year arrangement with all 28 presently active team organizations, ensuring that Sorare will wear MLS logos during the game. Along with the debut of MLS-branded Sorare NFTs this spring, Sorare and the league aim to collaborate on marketing and activation possibilities.
To be sure, when it comes to garnering a general audience, Sorare is one of the most well-known names in NFTs. The NFT game mixes the world’s most popular game with NFTs and fantasy sports. To summarize, Sorare is a fantasy soccer game in which participants may buy, sell, and trade National Football League player cards. The owners of NFTs then use their NFTs to establish weekly lineups. Finally, they are awarded points based on how well their players perform in actual soccer games.
