Learnoverse, an education-focused Metaverse created by BitDegree, announced on June 6, 2022, that it had raised over $1 million in funding. BitDegree, a leading education platform, powered by the blockchain with over a million users, announced it was working on the Metaverse project.
Details of Learnoverse and the Funding
By launching Learnoverse, BitDegree plans to create an engaging means for users to learn about crypto, the blockchain, and Web3 topics in the Metaverse. The $1 million I funding will be channeled via Mistletoe, a venture ecosystem builder, and investor created by Japanese billionaire entrepreneur Taizo Son. Mistletoe focuses on making investments in projects that solve global challenges, which include learning, and education. Since its launch in 2013, it has supported over 200 startups and VCs.
How Learnoverse Works
Learnoverse is designed to gamify how people learn. It will enhance the learning experience by offering learners a virtual world designed for Web3 learning where learners, instructors, and brands can interact and express knowledge, and status via NFTs. Additionally, a unique concept dubbed Learn & Earn will reward users for the learning effort. As a result, students are motivated to complete a course.
What the Leadership Team Had to Say
According to the CEO of BitDegree, Danielius Stasiulis, in the past few months, their novel concept of a learning Metaverse had received the attention of major players in the crypto and education world. Stasiulis added that they were excited to have attracted a trusted investor like Mistletoe, whose support would open many doors.
The MD of Mistletoe, Atsushi Taira had some equally positive sentiments regarding the announcement. According to Taira, Mistletoe believed that education was key to the Web3 internet revolution. Taira noted that BitDegree had a powerful vision to attract more learners to the space via an immersive Metaverse experience. He concluded by stating “Its more than 40 people strong team, experience, and a big existing user base are important factors that led us to this decision.”
