On the 5th of July, Neo (a well-known community-driven open-source blockchain platform) announced the launch of a hackathon. The platform has initiated a collaboration with the prominent crypto exchange OKX in this respect. As a result of the respective partnership, the event named the “Neo APAC Hackathon” is set to be launched.
Neo Launches APAC-Centered Hackathon in Collaboration with OKX to Enhance Web3 Growth
The hackathon takes into account a prize pool that contains a cumulative amount of nearly $120,000. The amount would be given in the form of prizes to the winners of the event. The platform announced the launch of this hackathon in a blog post published on Medium. In that post, the company invited talented people and Web3 enthusiasts dealing with diverse Web3 categories.
As per the platform, the hackathon will operate from this month to October this year. The event will feature several virtual membership sessions. It will also engage in offline events around 6 well-known APAC cities. Neo also mentioned that the respective initiative denotes another evidence of the unfettered commitment of the platform to promote exceptional talent. It added that this would foster the growth of the ecosystem.
The collaboration between Neo and OKX recognizes the cooperation between both platforms as well as the impact resulting from it. Neo has attempted to play the role of a driving entity in the case of innovation throughout the Web3 market. With this endeavour, the company is inviting the EVM-based projects simultaneous to New N3 projects for the initial time.
Hackathon Participants Can Develop within 5 Categories
The members of the respective hackathon can develop their projects within 5 categories including general, tooling, and infrastructure. The other categories include DAO, AI, Gaming, NFTs, Payments, and DeFi. Each of these categories has a top prize of up to $10,000. The announcement of the parties winning these categories is to be made in Hong Kong. The prizes will be given in the form of NEO tokens.
Apart from the grand prize, the hackathon also provides more benefits and rewards for members in some offline events. During these events, a couple of attending teams will get the price of approximately $5,000. Furthermore, these winners will also obtain travel grants with which they can attend the Hong Kong finale. The respective support guarantees that the teams can get completely involved in the event.
