The Crypto.com Visa Card is worth it for people who spend at least a few hundred dollars a month on the card and are comfortable being paid rewards in CRO, Crypto.com’s own token. Since the September 2025 overhaul, the prepaid card earns nothing unless you join a paid Level Up plan or lock up CRO for a year, and rewards are capped each month: 1.5% on the first $750 of spending on the Plus plan and 2.5% on the first $1,500 on the Pro plan. On a monthly subscription, Plus breaks even at about $333 of monthly spending and Pro at about $1,200.
That makes the card a reasonable choice for regular spenders who would use the extras, such as streaming rebates, airport lounge visits and fee-free trading in the Crypto.com app, but a poor one for occasional users. CRO is about 94% below its 2021 peak, so the value of rewards can fall after you earn them, and Crypto.com has cut card benefits several times since 2022.
Key Takeaways
- No plan, no rewards: the free Basic card earns 0%; rewards require a Level Up subscription or a 12-month CRO lockup.
- Capped cashback: 1.5% (Plus), 2.5% (Pro), 3.5% (Private) and 4.5% (top Private tier), each on a limited amount of monthly spending, paid in CRO.
- Break-even: on monthly plans, about $333 a month of spending for Plus and about $1,200 for Pro; annual plans lower that to about $277 and $1,000.
- Benefits keep shrinking: lockup rewards were cut on September 10, 2026, and Pro lounge visits fell from four to two a year.
- The US is different: Crypto.com now leads in the US with a Visa Signature credit card issued by Comenity Capital Bank, alongside the prepaid card.

Crypto.com Card Tiers and Rewards in 2026
Since November 2024, card benefits follow your Level Up plan rather than the color of your card. The old card names still map onto the plans: Midnight Blue is Basic, Ruby Steel is Plus, Jade Green and Royal Indigo are Pro, Icy White and Frosted Rose Gold are the $50,000 Private tier, and Obsidian is the $500,000 Private tier.
| Plan (Card) | Monthly / Annual Subscription | Or CRO Lockup | Card Rewards | Monthly Reward Cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic (Midnight Blue) | Free | None | 0% | None |
| Plus (Ruby Steel) | $4.99 / $49.90 | $500 (US) | 1.5% | First $750 of spending |
| Pro (Jade Green, Royal Indigo) | $29.99 / $299.90 | €4,500 (EEA) | 2.5% | First $1,500 of spending |
| Private (Icy White, Frosted Rose Gold) | Not available | $50,000 | 3.5% | First $3,000, then 0.5% |
| Private (Obsidian) | Not available | $500,000 | 4.5% | First $5,000, then 1.0% |
US and global prices from Crypto.com’s Level Up and US cards pages; EEA prices are €3.99 and €24.99 a month, or €450 and €4,500 in CRO; UK prices are £3.99 and £24.99, or £400 and £4,000. Reward rates and caps from Crypto.com’s regional fee schedules dated September 1, 2026. Caps reset at 00:00 UTC on the first of each month.
Rewards are paid in CRO shortly after each purchase. Since June 2026, residents of France, Germany and Italy can choose BTC instead, at lower rates. Some spending earns nothing, including rent, utilities, insurance, taxes and government payments, transfers, card loads and brokerage, according to Crypto.com’s list of excluded merchant categories.
CRO lockups carry extra risk. Stakes are locked for 365 days and take about 36 days to unbond, and on September 10, 2026 Crypto.com cut the lockup rewards: Pro from 4% to 3%, the $50,000 Private tier from 8.5% to 5% and the $500,000 tier from 9% to 6%.
Is the Crypto.com Card Worth It? The Math
The subscription has to pay for itself before the card earns you anything. Using US prices:
| Plan | Cost per Month | Break-Even Monthly Spending | Maximum Monthly Cashback | Maximum Net Gain per Month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plus, monthly | $4.99 | ~$333 | $11.25 | ~$6.26 |
| Plus, annual | ~$4.16 | ~$277 | $11.25 | ~$7.09 |
| Pro, monthly | $29.99 | ~$1,200 | $37.50 | ~$7.51 |
| Pro, annual | ~$24.99 | ~$1,000 | $37.50 | ~$12.51 |
Our calculations from Crypto.com’s published prices, reward rates and caps. Figures assume all spending is eligible and value CRO rewards at the time they are paid.
The cashback alone adds up to little: even at the cap, Pro on an annual plan leaves about $150 a year after the subscription. The plans make more sense if you would use the extras:
- Streaming rebates: Spotify and Netflix rebates of up to $13.99 a month each, for three months on Plus, six months on Pro and permanently on Private. Monthly subscribers do not get them.
- Airport lounges: Pro members with an annual plan or lockup get two Priority Pass visits a year, down from four; Private members get unlimited visits but now pay for guests.
- Trading fees: zero trading fees in the Crypto.com app on up to $20,000 a month for Plus and $50,000 for Pro.
- Travel bookings: higher rewards on Crypto.com Travel, up to 20% for Plus and 25% for Pro.
The main risk is the token. Rewards arrive in CRO, which traded near $0.057 on October 23, 2026, about 94% below its November 2021 peak of about $0.97, according to CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. CRO’s supply also rose from 30 billion to 100 billion tokens after a March 2025 governance vote to reissue previously burned tokens.

How the Crypto.com Card Works
The card is prepaid: you load it from the Crypto.com app with fiat, your app cash balance or crypto, and spend anywhere Visa is accepted. When you top up with crypto, the app converts it to fiat at the time of loading.
That conversion matters for tax. In the US, the IRS treats exchanging virtual currency for other property or currency as a taxable disposal, according to its virtual currency FAQ, and the UK’s HMRC takes the same view. Loading the card from fiat avoids that step.
In the US, Crypto.com now also offers a Visa Signature credit card issued by Comenity Capital Bank, part of Bread Financial, with no annual fee and rewards in CRO or, since May 2026, BTC. Its terms differ from the prepaid card; our Crypto.com Visa Signature credit card review covers it in detail, and the US cards page lists current rates.

The Crypto.com card stands out for availability, with app support across most major markets, and for the perks on higher plans. It falls behind cards that pay rewards in bitcoin or stablecoins without a subscription, especially for people who do not want exposure to CRO. In our ranking of the best crypto exchanges, Crypto.com scores 6.2 out of 10 and is our pick for app users and card spending. Our reviews of Coinbase and Bybit cover their exchanges in detail.

Our Verdict
The Crypto.com Visa Card is still one of the most widely available crypto cards, but it is no longer the generous product it was before 2022. Plus is worth it if you spend roughly $300 to $750 a month on eligible purchases and would use the card for travel and streaming. Pro only pays off above about $1,000 to $1,200 of monthly spending, mainly for its lounge visits and trading fee waiver. The Private tiers depend on locking up $50,000 or more in CRO for a year, a large bet on a volatile token whose rewards were cut again in September 2026. If you want crypto rewards without that exposure, a card that pays in bitcoin or stablecoins is the simpler choice.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Crypto.com Visa Card worth it?
It can be, if you spend enough. The free Basic card earns nothing, so you need a Level Up plan or a CRO lockup. On a monthly subscription, Plus breaks even at about $333 of spending a month and Pro at about $1,200. Rewards are capped and paid in CRO, so the card suits regular spenders who also use its travel and streaming perks.
How much cashback does the Crypto.com card give?
Rewards are 0% on Basic, 1.5% on Plus for the first $750 of monthly spending, 2.5% on Pro for the first $1,500, 3.5% on the $50,000 Private tier for the first $3,000 and 4.5% on the $500,000 tier for the first $5,000. Spending above the caps earns 0.5% to 1% on Private plans. Rewards are paid in CRO.
Do I need to stake CRO for the Crypto.com card?
Not for Plus or Pro. Since September 2025, you can unlock those plans with a monthly or annual subscription instead of locking up CRO. The Private tiers still require a 12-month CRO lockup of $50,000 or $500,000. Lockups take about 36 days to unbond, and Crypto.com cut lockup rewards on September 10, 2026.
What are the Crypto.com card fees?
The card has no monthly or annual card fee, but Basic costs €4.99 or $4.99 to issue and an inactivity fee applies after 12 months. Foreign exchange fees range from 0% on Private to 3% on US Basic, Plus and Pro, and free ATM withdrawals run from about $200 to $1,000 a month depending on your plan.
Is the Crypto.com card available in the US?
Yes. US residents can get the prepaid Visa card, issued by Community Federal Savings Bank, and a Visa Signature credit card issued by Comenity Capital Bank with no annual fee. The credit card pays rewards in CRO or, since May 2026, in BTC. Its rates and caps differ from the prepaid card, so check Crypto.com’s US cards page.
Can I use the Crypto.com card with Apple Pay?
Yes, in the US, Canada, the EEA, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, according to Crypto.com’s help center. Apple Pay is not available for UK cards or for the card in Bahrain and the GCC, but Google Pay works in all of those regions, including the UK. Samsung Pay is supported only in the US.
Is spending crypto with the Crypto.com card taxable?
Usually yes. When you top up the card with crypto, the app sells it for fiat, which counts as a taxable disposal in the US under IRS guidance and in the UK under HMRC rules. You may owe tax on any gain since you bought the crypto. Loading the card with fiat currency avoids this step.
What is the best alternative to the Crypto.com card?
It depends on where you live. US users can compare the Coinbase One Card, which pays bitcoin back, and the Gemini Credit Card. In Europe, the Bybit Card and Nexo Card pay rewards in stablecoins, BTC or their own tokens without a subscription. Each has its own caps, fees and regional limits, so check current terms first.
