Polymarket Gold and Silver Markets Go Live as Chainlink Powers the Push Beyond Crypto

Polymarket’s 15-minute gold and silver markets are now live — the prediction platform’s first contracts outside crypto prices. Chainlink supplies the pricing. LINK trades near $11.59 on October 31, up about 4.9% over 24 hours per CoinGecko data, while tokenized gold trackers print spot near $3,980 an ounce. The launch extends a Chainlink partnership that has already settled more than $11 billion in Polymarket trading volume, the two firms said in a joint announcement.

NEW from Link:NYC: @Polymarket deepens its partnership with Chainlink, its official oracle infra, to expand its high-speed 15-minute markets beyond crypto.

Now live: gold and silver.

More commodities, with equities and FX to follow.

From Bitcoin to gold, Polymarkets run on Chainlink data.

15-Minute Gold and Silver Markets Are Live

The new contracts are high-speed up-or-down markets: traders buy shares on whether gold or silver closes a rolling 15-minute window above or below the level printed at the open. Resolution comes from Chainlink’s low-latency pricing, delivered through Data Streams and the Chainlink Runtime Environment, the infrastructure the two firms described in the announcement.

Polymarket’s own X account framed the launch in one line: “Gold & silver, up or down? 15 minute up/down gold & silver polymarkets are now live.” Chainlink added the roadmap on X: “More commodities, with equities and FX to follow.”

The expansion is the first time Polymarket has taken its fast markets outside crypto. Before this, the 5- and 15-minute markets resolved only on crypto prices — Bitcoin, Ether, and other majors — through Chainlink’s oracle network. Gold and silver are the first traditional assets, with equities and foreign exchange already on the stated roadmap.

Chainlink Has Settled $11 Billion in Polymarket Volume

The partnership is not built from zero: Polymarket first turned to Chainlink oracles in 2025 to resolve market outcomes, and the relationship has since deepened. The two firms say Chainlink has already driven more than $11 billion in trading volume across Polymarket’s 5- and 15-minute crypto price markets. That volume figure is the anchor of the announcement and the reason the expansion matters to both sides.

For Polymarket, the oracle relationship is the reliability layer. Neal Kumar, the platform’s chief legal officer, put the user-facing stake directly: “Polymarket traders are some of the most connected in the world. With Chainlink 24/7, they can now take positions in a growing number of equity, commodity, and FX markets at all times. Chainlink gives us the reliable, high-speed data to launch new markets at scale, and gives our users the confidence that they will resolve accurately.”

For Chainlink Labs, the deal is a distribution story. Chief business officer Johann Eid framed it as the template for traditional markets moving onchain: “Prediction markets have become one of the most powerful ways to forecast the outcomes of global events, and Polymarket is a leading platform in the category. We’re excited to see Polymarket expand into traditional assets with Chainlink as its official oracle infrastructure. Our high-speed pricing data enables Polymarket to resolve these markets with the accuracy and efficiency its users expect.”

Market makers and algorithmic traders can now pull the same Data Streams through self-serve access, so they can price a new gold or silver market the moment it goes live rather than waiting for a manual feed. Polymarket US operates as a CFTC-regulated designated contract market under the Commodity Exchange Act, which gives the expansion a regulatory footing the broader crypto prediction category often lacks.

LINK Near $11.59: The Oracle Trade, Not the Metal Trade

The market’s read on the announcement is visible in the token. LINK trades near $11.59 at press time, up roughly 4.9% in 24 hours, against a crypto tape that is mostly flat or red — Bitcoin is roughly unchanged at about $77,460 while Solana is off about 0.7%. The relative strength points at the oracle trade, not the metal trade.

Here is the scale in one number: $11 billion in settled Polymarket volume is roughly 1.24 times LINK’s entire market capitalization of about $8.9 billion. That is the comparison the announcement itself does not spell out. A single prediction venue has, on Chainlink rails, settled more notional value than the full market value of the token that secures those rails.

Chainlink’s model converts enterprise demand into token value directly. Offchain and onchain revenue from enterprise adoption is converted to LINK and stored in a strategic Chainlink Reserve, the company has said in prior releases. Each institutional win — Hanwha Investment & Securities adopting the Chainlink data standard and CCIP earlier the same week, and now Polymarket extending its official oracle relationship — feeds the same flywheel.

The technical picture is thin but constructive. LINK’s 24-hour high sits near $11.72 with the low at $10.91, so the token is holding in the upper half of its daily range. Gold’s level matters less to LINK’s direction than the breadth of Chainlink’s oracle book, and that book just got broader.

Up or Down, Not Custody: What These Markets Are and Aren’t

A 15-minute gold up-or-down market is a short-horizon direction bet, not exposure to the metal. It does not give a trader gold custody, a hedge against a multi-year inflation trade, or a claim on physical bullion. At about $3,980 an ounce, even a $20 move inside the window is just half a percent — these are volatility contracts, not accumulation vehicles.

The expansion also does not mean Polymarket is becoming a spot exchange for gold or equities. It is extending a prediction product into new reference assets. What changes is the breadth of the oracle demand and the proof point that Chainlink can price traditional assets around the clock for a regulated venue. The launch lands as prediction markets draw institutional money: rival venue Kalshi raised a $1 billion Series G at a $40 billion valuation this week.

The risk to watch is concentration. Polymarket’s fast markets depend on a single oracle provider for resolution, and the CFTC-regulated Polymarket US is one of the few prediction venues with that status. A pricing failure or a disputed resolution would test the exact reliability claim the partnership is built on — a tail risk the announcement does not address.
